We didn't get them to look different, we got them to look better than the crap OEM grille from Toyota. Bet next year's Solara gets a much nicer top grille just like they did with the Camry.

Who are the two trophy winners pictured and are they Solaraguy members? Identify yourself.

I still have the stock grille. But then again, I'm a loner. A rebel. There's a lotta things about me you don't know anything about. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand.

Ahem, thus the stock upper grille.

Congrats guys on winning first and second place. Those are some nice size trophies. What were you judged on? How good the finish looked? I see some major reflections there. The black grilles look good on red.

Hey there all!

I think everyone had a good time. This event really wasn't about showing the Solaras as much as it was about meeting friends in person and representing SG at the event.

I took a bunch of photos, but I'm working to scale the images down so I can upload them. (They were taken with a 6.3MP Canon digital SLR so the images are huge) I'll get them posted this evening.

Here's part of the group. (Taken at the end of the show.)

Image

Standing in the rear from left to right:
TRDBoy15, RGZToy, Sto , Down2thec

Crouched / kneeling in front:
Sap Z , Tacti and PhreakdOut
Not pictured is SP 0 who left before we took the group shot.

Reggie takes 1st Place with his Gen1. I take second in my Gen2 and third goes to the VP of JC Whitney (I forgot his name) with his supercharged Gen1. (I think the judge likes red cars and $50 bills left on the dash.) LOL

I hope everyone had a great time and made it home safely. (SAP Z) I hope you are feeling better. you should get an award for hanging in there.

**********************************************************

Here are the rest of the pics. (Sorry if this kills anyones bandwidth)

--- The night before. The dealer clears the entire lot. 128 cars will show up the next day.

--- SolaraGuy members meet before the show.

--- Gen2 Representation

--- I pass out decals to anyone who wants one. (White , red or CF)
Image Image

--- We assemble into a line. Down2theC passes out a special mix CD of tunes for our ride to the show. (Nicely done Mike! It sounded awesome on RGZToy's system. I now hate my stock stereo.) SPF 0 in his black Gen2 ragtop leads the way with his aftermarket NAV unit. I try to snap pics driving down the interstate without dropping my $1000 camera.

Image

--- Registration Tent

Image

--- Solara Section (Some groups cam in around 9am and got premium spots. We were off to the side next to the misfit cars that didn't belong at a Toyota show. A Honda, Lotus Esprit, Chevelle, EVO, NSX and a couple others) Next year, let's roll in earlier.

STO's awesome Gen1

Down2theC (Mike) and I met this guy in a parking lot the day before the show. This has to be the cleanest Gen1 I've ever seen. It turns out to be a 2000 model with 10,000 miles on it. Yes, 10K!! He says he'll enter in next year's show. He should have 11K miles by then.

Elmhurst pulled some strings with TMS to get the Pioneer Scion tC show car and the xB stretch limo. They were sent from LA by tractor trailer.

Nice pics! I'm pulling mine off the cam shortly. Fun show even though it was Africa-hot the entire time we were there. 2 SG winners was cool to see and we even got on TV. The Gen1's will get a kick out of this... the JC Whitney VP told the TV guy that he had the only S/Ced Solara. :o I didn't correct him on camera but I'm sending the guy an email so he can make sure to fix it in editing. http://www.msutv.com/ to look for air-time. Might have a nice plug for SG in there.

Jackass-Jeff wrote:why do all the gen 2s have the same a/m grille? trying to be different turned into being all the same lol

Because these are SolaraGuys. That's the Mike T grill and the three Gen2's representin' Sunday were from 3 different states. So it's a rare thing on the home turf.
