dealer refused lag tsb

dealer refused lag tsb

Postby dirtybird_1 » Fri Jul 08, 2005 8:52 am

took my se sport to the dealer this morning about the lag issue and when i spoke to them they told me they had not gotten anything. i then told them about the tsb that was out and he looked it up on his computer and then told me that it is not intended for the 4cyl engine, only the 6cyl. for some reason i feel as if i am getting jerked around but is this true? i hope not because i do have a noticable lag and really want this issue resolved. any help greatly appreciated.

its only for the 3.3L V6. There is no issue with the 4cyl.

The 4cyl has a 4-speed transmission, whereas the issue is for the 5-speed which is in the 04-05 Solara V6s.

The solution is for the 3.3L 6 cyl engines with ECM only. Not for your 2.4L 4 cyl engine.

Except me.

I went in for the TSB... it was applied... still lags...

I called back, and the guy told me to drive it a bit more, and if it still lags, take it back and they'll look at it again.

cklinh, I bet they didn't even do anything to it in hopes of saving 2 hours worth of warranty work. Find a different dealer if possible.

Nope- My dealership refuses to touch my car and they told me that as long as the car drives, they are not going to reprogram it. Its been in 2 times, with 2 long excuses written on the service document.

Definitely go to another dealership and say you have the problems that are listed in the TSB. THEN mention the TSB and say you would like to have it done to fix your problems.

Very strange as this is the first account we've heard here of no change in performance. I'm still thinking it wasn't even done. Can you spin your tires starting out easily? What lag effects are you seeing?

Spin tires starting slowly? Don't believe so... as for what I'm seeing,

at or around the 20 mph range, when I try to accelerate, there's a very noticeable delay of me actually feeling anything... and when I do go, I jerk forward... I haven't driven in "D" for a while (ever since one of the threads suggested to leave it at "S-5") so I don't know if this is normal... it also happens on or around 40 mph...

they might not have done the tsb correctly, maybe they didn't remove the ecm fuse when they were doing so.
