Throttle Lag TSB is out

Postby MrMikeL » Thu Jul 07, 2005 1:56 pm

I stopped by my dealership today to schedule an appointment. I explained my problem to the service writer. I mentioned that there is a software fix available, and that I had been doing research on the Internet. He was actually glad! He said "if you feel this TSB describes your problem, then we will gladly apply it for you". Imagine that? It goes in next Tuesday - I'll keep you posted.

I got my car back, what a differance. It squeals the front tires now. Has anyone checked their fuel mileage to see if it got better or worse?

So does a K&N drop-in really give the car a different exhaust note?

What does the K&N filter have to do with throttle lag? Why did you post in this thread??

Yep, never had so much squeeling going on with my car. My gas mileage is worse because I'm driving more aggressively and I bet most are after this fix.

If you punch it, I would expect it to squeal. My gas mileage is better but i've been driving the same as before.

I noticed today my mileage improved but I'm thinking that now the ECU cranks out the right figures for the trip computer, theyre certainly more accurate to me.

Interesting, I haven't taken out the pen, paper and calculator yet but i'll have to verify that :D

Oh and here is TSB TC006-05, and it definitely talks about 91 octane gas on the last page:

It says use Octane 91 for optimum engine performance. That's not the same as saying minimum recommended octane. It just says for best performance. This flashed ECU engine seems faster to me even when using the lowest octane!

I agree, I had Shell 87 in the tank before and after and its already a huge improvement as a result of the flashed ECU.

Maybe we should get some new test MPGs going with 87 and 93 octane.

Had the TSB done this evening. One word describes the difference - RESPONSIVE! Even though I only drove about 8 miles home, I performed the two most important tests:

1. At about 40 mph, punched the accelerator as if I was trying to get out of the slow lane and merge into the fast lane. Instead of the 2-3 second delay, the response was instant.

2. You know how when you cruise up to a red light and it turns green, and you punch the accelerator and you get that jolt as it attempts to find a gear? GONE!!

Finally the car responds to MY commands instead of IT deciding when it wants to respond.
