I'd upgrade to an Alpine 100% F1 status headunit and processor... Maybe consider upping my Boston Z6s to Alpine F1 mids and highs... Dunno what kinda amps or subs I'd go for, haven't really done much research on what's currently out there (I've been livin with the Old Skool since the Old Skool was new...). Most new amps out there (even if manufactured by - once reputable - companys) are overrated and not as well manufactured (I guess cuz there's a different audience than there used to be, and they can noe get away with it). Classic power houses such as Rockford Fosgate, Phoenix Gold, Soundstream, and MTX (MTX ain't really classic, but they've been in the game long enough to have had some quality stuff) have all pretty much gone to hell. JL and Alpine are where they've always been *decent*... PPi's been having their ups and downs... Kicker's been staying pretty solid though. So yeah, hard call on what I'd power with. Subs... I'd prolly stay with two 12"s, but not sure which... Anyhow, this should be a pretty interesting thread, I look forward to seeing what everyone goes for! BTW, for those of you who have current products by the manufacturers I mentioned above, I ain't trying to diss your setup... Mobile electronics of today have a different focus from as short a time as just a few years back (between 1998-2001 is where the largest changes started to occur)...

Aotoyota, yeah, I remember your setup (I complimented it in another thread). You have solid setup. I'm running the IVA-D900 (80% F1) currently with no processor... but I'm thinking about getting the DSP soon (just a consideration, my setup sounds fine without, and I'm not patient enough to tweak time alignment and such). Unfortunately there is no "all-in-one" F1 screen like the IVA... the TMI is JUST a retractable display... no DVD, no DSP, no Tuner...

:D For the best system $$$ could buy... I'd go with Alpine F1 DVI-9990 PXI-H990 TMI-M990, Mcintoch MCC602TM and Hifonics XX Colossus (to run the JL W7's) AMPs and Diamond D971 or MB Quarts Q-series+MusicCOMP X-overs components all around... And of course Stinger accessories to wire up the beast... Now that would be the bom! Rock on 8) :drinking: ...

hey theprodigy79, I had the d900 for a while too, but it just wasnt doing it, which is why i went F1. If I were in your shoes ( which i was) id get the pxa-701 or the h900 if u got the cash. the 701 was the other choice with the d900, but after i heard f1 i had to have it and now ive got plans to revamp the system and make it bigger better clearer...

The front end of that system is what I want. Can't figure out what to do with the monitor though. Leading theory is to make it a flip up that covers the head and AC area.
Hate to be an audio noob, but what's the G3Si?

It's an aluminum ribbon tweeter, mostly used in moderate to higher end OEM home / commercial applications. Ribbon tweets carry a broader frequency range than domes and horns, and tend to be pretty efficient... Bit ackward for a limited area mobile environment though.

hehe, I've decided against the ribbons due to that fact right there. The availability of space is very limited in my truck-2005 Tacoma XRunner BTW(I used to have a Camry, hence my presence here)

I was going to get creative and try something out, but it is just not feasible.

For now I am going to be doing a simple DIY SQ system using Seas CA18RNX mids http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index. ... Field.y=14
and LPG 25NFA tweets http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index. ... 29&pid=635

I'll be using a decent 4 channel amp for them and a Pioneer DEHP860MP headunit for handling all the crossovers/eq's.

The sub will be an Image Dynamics IDQ15 with an amp to match the 4 channel amp on the components. [/url]
