toyota red coolant not recommended?

i came across this site that strongly recommends switching to prestone as soon as the warranty runs out

"The Toyota red coolant on the other hand seems to age just as fast as the old style coolant, is impossible to litmus test (because of the red dye), and seems to generate a lot of radiator clogging residue. We recommend removing the Toyota coolant and installing Prestone as soon as the warranty expires. "

can anyone back this up? i have to flush the radiator soon and im having a hard time finding red other than a toyota dealer which is a pain to drive to.

Actually I read some where else in the Internet that the Toyota red is the best out there. Unfortunately I lost the link; I'll post it here when i found it back. Anyway, newer Toyota is now prefilled with the "Super" Long Life (90k-100K interval) vs the Long life (45k interval). The "Super" Long life is still hard to find, but I have seen one of the Toyota dealer here carries them. I know for sure the Gen 2 Solara is pre-filled with the "Super" Long life. When the time come for radiator flush for my car, I will put in the "Super" long life.

that link sound more like marketing for their service
the toyota manual states that toyota red coolant was designed to lubricate water pump and minimized alloy engine rust on 1mz-fe v6 engines as well.

i am not sure, but i am sure toyota R&Ds are not idiot. also, herhap it will clog, but for sure it prolong water pump life. My solara has 70000 miles with turbo, and my red coolant still show bright red color. unlike the green coolant, turn darker over time.

yeah from everything i read on this forum seems like red is the way to go..

i read through their site a bit and they seem like a good buisiness.

if "good for all newer cars" prestone is indeed no good for our toyotas i find it odd they would know this

mabey i will email them and see what they say about the waterpump deal.

It's almost like the Honda Auto Trans Fluid (ATF) thing... you CANNOT put non-Honda ATF in or the Trans will shift even worse than it already is!

Use the red or pink Toyota fluid ONLY. The service interval is the same (materials in the radiator) so you can use either fluid. I heard most are stocking PINK only now. (Pink is the new coolant.) Your first PINK coolant change is at 100K... and 50K after that. Obviously not for our cars, but for the newer cars (04+ Lexusss)

In addition, it is important to keep in mind that there is additive in the Toyota RED coolant that is required to prolong the Toyota water pump life and lubricate its seal. This additive is not present in the GREEN coolants and will cause premature Toyota water pump failure. My source, Toyota.

Learned from uncle.
He told that when he had green coolant; he had to replace every 6 months or so.
So he changed to Toyota Red and didn't have any problems.
Then he sold his car for a Land Cruiser and now rollin' in a Tundra.
I changed mine to Toyota Red, and no problems.

Isn't red coolant better for sport cars? and green for wutever else cars?

I dunno, i'll do red just because it's totally unique to other cars.

back in the day i used to roll on prestone GM dexcool (it was orangish color). But then there was some recall for that coolant (back in the day), and apparently GM cars were overheating. Since i heard that, i was bound to never use something that 'could' harm my car. Glad my solara has only seen red coolant.

red prestone huh? wonder if this is compatible w/ our cars. Does color represent some unnown (to me anyway) antifreeze/coolant language?

its actually prestone orange, but it looks red in the reservior.
