Does anyone know of any good places in Orange County or Riverside areas (socal) to get tint done. I am looking for someone that can guarantee their work. Thanks.

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to post.

I can guarantee one in the San Fernando Valley area one but looks like it'd be quite a distance for you.

Sunshield Glass Tinting
4704 Van Nuys Blvd,
Sherman Oaks, CA 91403
(818) 906-8468

Couldn't find a website for these guys but they are go-to place for window tints, they work on the cars from PlatinumMotorsport in Hollywood. http://www.platinummotorsport.com/

And right across the street is StickerCity. So if your interested in fog/headlight tints, smoking your tailights and whatnot, clear car bras, these are the go-to guys. www.stickercity.com

In California its ILLEGAL to have tints. period. But cops nowadays dont really pull you over unless your limo'd up in the front. Hell, cops prolly have their personal cars tinted.

For a Gen 2. It cost me $125 to get all the windows done on mine which isn't too bad compared to the $165 Al & Ed's wanted to charge me.

I thought it was only illegal to have the front windows and the windshield tinted.

http://home.pcisys.net/~bpc/auto_law/tint/tint_ca.html check it out.

The one you refered to is for sometime around 1987 http://home.pcisys.net/~bpc/auto_law/tint/

I found the following for state tint laws:

http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/State%20Law%20Chart.htm
The CA one is for the law passed in 1999. I have no idea if this is the latest one though.

:::::Update:::::

In 2000 the part of the above law was repealed: Front windows must transmit more than 70% of light.

It is now NO tint in front windows. Whatever you want in back windows and rear window.

Here is some more info regarding this (the second question), the first is for those who wondered how those with lifted trucks are legal, and thrid is about exiting and entering car pool lanes. All answered by Highway Patrol. http://www.motorway.com/Stories/0,1413,243%257E32656%257E2823657,00.html

:::::Yet another update:::::

This is from the CHP's website under FAQ's:

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?

The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:

The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.

However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.
