It's not true that you need the front strut brace if you put on the RSB. I don't feel a problem and there haven't been anyone else here that felt an uncertain feeling front end with just the TRD RSB installed. The front strut tower is mainly for providing clearance for a supercharger. Since that isn't going to be made, it ends up mostly for looks.

I just replaced the stock Bridgestone Turanzas with 245/45/17 Toyo Proxes T1R's last week. Like driving a slot car now. Tires are nosier and stiffer, but they definitely are much stickier than the crap Bridgestones the car came with new.

Well slingshot, I I I felt a significant difference with the FSTB added. It is not just for supersharger clearance since there is not supercharger and likely won't be.

It is much heavier construction than the stock stamped sheet metal FSTB. It has much heavier flanges and welded steel tubing, compared to the stamped "faux" tube design (they are not tubes, just wavey stamped steel that looks like tubes.)

But then again, it might just be the placebo effect. I totally noticed the front end was out of balance when I installed the RSB, though.

Perhaps a skid pad or slalom comparo is called for here.

In my post on the FSTB, I noticed the front end held much better with the TRD piece after installation, and the understeer went away. I now have delightful oversteer, very controllable, with the rear end breaking loose with gentle flicks of the wheel at speed.

Hate to revive an old thread but I need to replace my tires. Are any modifications needed to fit a 235 tire (I see yes and no answers in other posts)? I assume 225s fit just fine from what I have read.

A little update after 12K miles on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S - doing good overall, probably about 50% gone by now [hoping to have them last through winter!] A lot of people report harder wear on the "soft rubber" center strip - im SORT OF seeing that. Still get the grins taking turns at speeds i probably shouldn't be

I've been playing around with tire pressure - going from 35PSI to 31.5PSI makes _so much_ difference [stiff/exact ride/good grip] vs [softer ride/swaying/much more grip]. The problem is that with lower pressure tire outer edges wear out like crazy Anyone else running these tires here? What pressure are you running?

Okay... tirme to revive this thread once more, except with a slight difference... I have the TRD 18"x8" rims with Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45R18s... I've been planning to upgrade to the Pilot Sport A/S whenever these tires wear out ever since I got the car last year... Well, the tires are shot, so time to upgrade, however Michelin no longer makes the A/S in the 225/45R18 size... They still make the standard Pilot Sports in that size, but as much as they rock on dry and moderately wet roads, I'd rather step down that and balance it with the perks of the all season tire (even though I managed to drive my car as is through 3" of snow last season in summer tires)... 235/40R18s are offered, however all the tire size calculators I use say there would be over a 3% difference (which I'm not wanting... 235/45R18 would be perfect.. but not offered... the next best size that Michelin offers (according to every on line tire size calculator) would be 255/40R18s... But those seem like they would be HUGE, and they say they fit on a range of 8.5" to 10" wide rims (the width would look damned cool if it would fit on an 8" though!)... Anyhow, check out page 2 of the link below to see the available sizes... Any help would be appreciated!

SO just how many miles did those tires last? Were you driving them mostly aggressively? Tight turns alot?

I put just over 20K on them, mostly agressive driving... I live in DC Metro area if that says anything about the driving style around here (either one extreme of stop / go or the other of EVERYONE hauling ass). All tires actually have tread left and would probably be useable for up to another couple thousand (without changing driving style), however I had an allignment issue that balded my passenger front on the outside, my drivers front on the inside, cupped my passenger rear, and it's not worth saving one tire with 20K miles on it if I'm replacing the other three... I'm contented with the 20K I got out of them (even though I'm a bit bitter over the allignment BS)... Ultra High Performance Summer ZWs usually last right around that under "normal" driving conditions... and these probably wouldn't know what "normal" is...
