Power Seats

Power Seats

Postby FLASH » Mon Jun 20, 2005 7:41 pm

I have a 99 SE V6, and my driver side seat is power, but my passenger isn't.

I recently won some leather seats which stated Front and Backseat Power. From a 2001 Solara...

Would the Passenger side be power as well if it was taken from a 01 SLE? Does any trim of Gen1's have BOTH power seats?

If so, what would I need to do to get the power to that seat as well?

Thanks.

Anyone know how I would go about making the passenger side power?

Are you sure abbout that Rich? I really don't think so. The reason I say that is because when I ordered my 99, I wanted every option available and they didn't offer the powered passenger seat. Of course the stupid dealer didn't even know about any of the TRD upgrades either  . -JoeB

^^^ Ah, no not realy. You'll see when checking prices there, they usually have options selectable like that that didn't exist for many cars. -JoeB

Well I order my 2000 SLE fully loaded and the riders power seat was not available. I did get the full TRD kit and some other promotional bells and whistles.

Correct!! The power passenger seat is not available in the solara. the reason being when its reclined it moves forward to allow more room for the passengers in the rear to get in and out. If you try reclining your drivers seat the whole seat doesn't move forward and you have to move the seat forward yourself.

Also its a safety feature that on coupes the passenger side seat not to be powered and can be manually reclined in case of accidents.

However if its a 4 door car its a diff story...

Only coupe I've ever seen with a power passenger seat is the G35 Coupe, but its more annoying than functional. You need to sit there and wait for the seat to move itself out of the way if you have more than 1 passenger.
