OK peeps so in my long venture to drop "Big Red" I've finally decided to go ahead with it. So got some questions. What exactly are coil-overs and what are the advantages/disadvantages to coil-overs and how much does a set usually go for? Is there anything I should add to the suspension to keep the ride as smooth as possible? As you can tell I don't have much knowledge about our rides, but I'm learning. Any help would be much appreciated. Oh yeah one more thing If I don't go for coil-overs what's the next best thing?

Buy the tein dumper......
coil-overs good : better handling..when making turns..u can feel it
BAD : bounce , have to Pay $$

If u r poor like me get intrax spring...if u r rich get tein

coil-overs + spring = suspension

correct me if i am wrong.. I am also learning.. :D

coilovers don't bounce unless you cheap out and get GROUND CONTROL

...

Chris, depends what you want for the car. The benefits are:
(Specifically for the Tein SS)

Pros: Height adjustable, dampening rate adjustable (how stiff the struts are), better handling than spring/struts, last longer than spring/strut combo, can be rebuilt as opposed to needing replacement (strut).

Cons: Price lol

You will NOT bounce around if you set it up correctly. Lowering springs w/o struts = bounce like a bitch.

Coilover + spring = suspension = WRONG. Damper control shock tower (aka STRUT) + spring = coil over.

Show up at a meet... then you'll see :drinking:
1GR-FE ftw!

STOCK Regular STRUTS, non sport will bounce......

No need for the COs if you don't drive hard or canyon carve....... Especially if you do not know how to adjust, you will suffer with the ride... Its a waste of money if you just want to be low...

As far as springs Go for the TRDs which we all know are Eibach, which is all you need since you already have the sport struts.....

wow...How will know if i have the SE sport struts? I have an SE model solara?

Stiff suspension.... Its like asking what does your Sig have to do with the whole forum!!!!LOL!!!!

Damn I have to admit that was funny as hell... Leave him alone though, he'll have his Solara soon. Good lookin on all the input. I'll be able to make a better decision now. Seems like The way to go is the Eibachs or TRD's (same difference).

When I first started my Sebring project in 96 I started with Intrax springs. They sucked the car bounced like a rodeo horse. I tried different coils. At that time everything in the Sebring had to be customed made so it was mostly waste of money. The last set up I had on the Sebring was the Ground Control coilovers with KYB AGX ajustable Struts I paid around 650.00 at that time for the set up. Ground Controll uses Eibach springs. The ride was much better. I had no complains with it.
