elmhurst TOYOTA, IL meet 7/10/2005 (update 06/03/2005)

I don't know about you guys that would like to spend SAT night around Schumberg Games Work (1 schumberg pplace) area.......usually, (not offically) are plenty of IMPORTS and DOMESTIC around there and doing some chit chat....occasionly, a little quick run....usually Hondas, EVO, Wrxs and domestic like Vette and Vipers.......it is always FUN, but sometimes, nasty, and beware of those 13" stock looking CIVIC with full black tint.......several of those run 10-11s with spray and the 13" wheelie, those ppl are there to make weekend money....

Their strip....right outside the Higgins Forest preserve parking lot....1/2 miles of 2 lanes full straight with several good police traps around...(but I haven't seen one for the last 3 or 4 times when I drove on that path..)

^^^ And you're worried about parking in an empty parking lot on a Sunday afternoon? LOL!

If anyone's interested, I could prolly get the boat for Sat. night. 37' Tartan Sailboat with underway room for 6-8 (more if you're the hardy sort) and more capacity for hanging out in the harbor. Usual scene is quick sail/swim late PM, get in and fire up the grill & crack the cooler or hit a nearby joint for food & brew. Boat's in Waukegan though (cool for sto) 45 min. North of the meet. Not at all car related but cool way to kill a July night.

... otherwise... are there legal places to run full out on a Sat. nite?

Found "July 9 Sat MOFOCO BUGFEST 8am -6pm REAL STREET DRAGS 3-11PM" at http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com .

Are you talking about that illegal drag strip on Higgin..? I have no idea, I usually drive there with the minivan when my wife want to eat Japanese food....
Street of woodfield are still 20-25 minutes from Elmhurst....so, not necessary close to ppl at ELmhurst, but that place is young ppl hang out area........with hot cars, of course, I am not one of them (too old and does not have a hot looking car nor a hot GF/wife)....

So I guess the wife doesn't read this forum...

Anyway... had a brainstorm but need a sanity check...

As long as we're hooking up before the meet, I want to mass produce a Solara Meet CD that we can all start up in unison at the rally point and drive in w/ the same tunes cranked. That way the people we pass get a show as we cruise by and as we file into the Solara spots at the meet it would be pretty slick.

Here's the proposal:
- Everyone who's coming PM me with two tracks (Artist and title) and I'll try to find them.
- I'll maintain a list and the group can veto tracks in case someone picks Debbie Boone or something. If your first track gets vetoed, we'll go to the second pick until we have the disc full.
- Once settled, I'll cut as many CD's as we need and we'll hand them out at the premeet.
- Before we head out, we all pop in the cd and let track 1 start playing. Someone faces the crowd and gives three flashes of the lights (or whatever) and we all hit (prev-track) so track one starts in unison.
- we drive off with the Solara sound track kickin'.

So... ghay or stylin'? It's my first meet so maybe I'm going overboard.
I figure we can send someone to check out the scene before we make our "entrance" to see where our spots are reserved and he can be the lead dog for the cruise. Even if its only 10 cars I think it would be a killer entrance. 80 speaker sound system! holla back.

I hope I can get the carbon fiber hood installed before the meet, then I hope I am not out of town by that week, then I hope wifey will let me go out and play for that week, then I hope my 18 months old daughter won't hop along that week.........

I envy you guys that still have a exciting life along with your Solara...

I went by the Odeum again and looked for an alternate place. That's really the best spot around. Let's pick an hour span (230-330?) and if you get there and it's empty... we got kicked. Then just go to the meet. I haven't heard any better locations. So pick a time that we want to roll in and we'll gather in the hour prior.

The list.
1. Sto
2. Down2TheC (Mike)
3. Phreak (I know he'll be there.)
4. tacti
