speaker amp keeps blowing

Postby bparker » Thu Jun 09, 2005 4:55 pm

I have an Infinity Reference speaker amp (97Wx2) that I'm using for my Type-R components in the front, and yesterday it blew the fuse. No big deal I think, so I disconnect the ground and replace the fuse, then the second I reconnect the ground, it blows the brand new fuse. I tried removing the power from my sub amp also, that didn't help, all I managed to do was consecutively blow 5 30A fuses. Any ideas? Is it likely that the speaker amp is somehow broken now? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Probably something shorted internally in the amplifer. Either output transistors in the audio section or maybe rectifier diodes in the power supply.

Did the amp ever work? That usualy happens when you plug the pos and ground wires in the wrong slots. If they're in there correctly you prolly have a short.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.
