PAC for Steering Controls

I have tried to find info on how to contact this company so that I may put in a request to R&D one of these for our cars, but so far can only find dealers that sell them. I am still upset that I lost my stereo but even moreso my gauges through my steering wheel controls. If anyone can find the contact info for this company, I would like for as many of us to send a note to request one as possible.

Michael, I know we talked about this before I moved, but cannot find anything, did you have better luck?

I contacted the sales department at PAC to see what we can do about getting our steering controls back with aftermarket stereos. I will let you all know when I hear back from them. If anyone else wants to write to them, here is thier website:

http://www.pac-audio.com/

I figure the more people who write and request, the better our chances of getting this done.

hey jewls,
will the PAC control thing allow us to work the multi-gauge again? or will it just give us the radio controls on our steering wheel?
Fabulous

I am not sure about that one yet. I would assume that they will all work, I will ask them about that when I hear back from them.

Here is the reply I got..........

There has been one available for 5 years now and is called the SWI-X. It
will work on all Toyotas except the Sienna 2003 and older.

You can buy from www.crutchfield.com

Thanks,

Funny because according to Crutchfield it does not work with Toyotas, but according to PAC directly, it does. Here is the link to the item:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YVh1OoSCqe ... ch=SWI%2DX

So this is now on my X-mas wish list.

correct me if I'm wrong but from what i have found out the swi-x is only for the track up/down and volume to control your headunit IF it is compatible with a remote. it learns the commands from your remote then spits them back out of an led that is within line of sight on the head unit.
Alpine + Dynaudio = Sonic bliss.

Yes you are correct. I found out last night that it will only learn the functions of your stereo remote, not our multi gauges. I have a remote, and I am fine with it, but still would like my multi gauges back. I also have a contact for a group buy, I will call him and see what he can offer if you guys truly want these. I personally am going to wait until something comes out that does both.

Jewls, can you explain how you lost all the steering wheel controls in the first place? Putting in a new stereo might lose the stereo functions but how did you lose the cluster function button operation?

Yep, he's right, somehow the gauge controls are linked into the stock stereo. The thought did not even occur to me that this might happen. I spoke to Robert over at PAC about this and all he could tell me was good luck finding something to fix this.

There is a fix for this, give it some time. I've got an '03 Altima and the same thing happended when I had the DVD sys installed, I lost stereo/volume control on the steering wheel along with the mileage/distance also. However, I warned others of this from a review that I had written on cardomain.com and a guy emailed me and inquired about it prior to installing it himself and he just sent me an email update stating that he was able to resolve the lost functions for the distance/mileage features. Here's the email that he sent me, see if you guys can make any sense of it. I'm waiting for a detailed response from him in regards to this.

I'm hoping that someone that has replaced the HU will have time to look into this further. I have not replaced my stock 6 Disc Changer at this time to try this, but will when I get ICE.

This email will shed some light on this problem and should be resolved soon. Unfortunately the guy did not recall which wires he used, so I will have to go the trial and error route for my Altima.

I know that this is in regards to a Nissan Altima wiring harness, but I'm pretty certain that someone will be able to restore those functions. I just want to be able to use my mileage functions; I don't mind losing the volume/stereo controls if I get ICE.

Micahel, first of all, let me say :P

I have not ordered the dash kit from Scosche, I forwarded the info to the bf in hopes of getting it for Christmas. So we will see what happens. I am happy to see that someone resolved the multi gauge problem, once I get the Schosche kit and have the dash apart again, I will have to look into it. Thanks!

And this is now post #7 in this thread as part of my conspiracy to take over the forum. :evilbat: ha ha ha ha

Bringing it back from the dead.

Did anyone solve the problem with the guage controls?

I looked at PAC's website and found the SWI-PS (works for Pioneer HUs). I didn't realize that it only memorizes remote control functions. So I don't know if I should bother getting it.
