I want dark interior

I want dark interior

Postby 04SolaraGirlie » Thu Jun 09, 2005 3:56 pm

I was in the toyota dealership the other day and I was looking at a gorgoeus 05 Arctic pearl SE sport with black leather interior, here's what I was thinking, eventually I'm going to get aftermarket leather installed, does anyone think it's possible to change all the light gray panels in my interior I have now with the dark gray/black (hard to tell) panels that come in the SE sport, including the carbon fiber trim on the door inserts? I really want a dark interior, but I'm weary about using that "Interior spray paint" for fear that it will look cheesy and ameteur-ish (has mental images of a 10 year old prelude with a red spray painted interior) I want it to look like I bought it that way...

i think you can take it to an upholstory shop and check with them to see if you can have them change it. it might be a bit expensive though.

You are thinking of spending quite a bit on improvements to your SE to look more like an SE Sport. Why didn't you just get an SE sport to begin with?

Because I didn't do any research before I bought my car, they were trying to sell me a base model corolla then I saw my car there with those fancy wheels and I was like "I want that car! f*ck the corolla!" It was an impulse buy plain and simple, I'm totally stoked about the deal I got cuz i know it was a stellar one, but I knew NOTHING about the solara when I bought my car, I just knew it was a 2dr camry basically... Then the next day I saw the 04 SE sport 5spd arctic frost parked where my car was and I kicked myself in the a$$ for a week cuz this one was on the line with the 05s and I hadn't seen it... I wish I had gotten an SE sport, but truth be told I didn't know it existed when I bought my car...

1) Stop doing any more mods.

2) Take off the mods you've already done. Reinstall the original parts because you had the foresight to keep them around.

3) Trade in car for one with two more cylinders and the options you crave. :D

4) Take a second or third job to cover the extra payments.

5) Reinstall the mods onto your new ride.

As I see it, it's less work than trying to purchase or install a new interior. :D

Yeah changing interior colors at a shop is alot of cash... very difficult decision.. but i say dont trade ur in unless your getting a used solara.. of same year.. you will be under cut by at least 3000.....
remember taking a car of the lot devaules it real quick... you proably would have to add almost another 3 - 5 grand on your loan to get the car you want. especially if your look for a v6 instead of your 4 banger... dont go that route unless u really dont care...
get some prices on interior cost.. it will cost you about 2000 for interior color change...

I say save up some cash and get the work done... you already bough the car.. work with it.. unless you really want a v6....

I would say do the trade in for your last option... its silly to go threw all that paper work and debt....

well good luck.. My .02

8) I know, I'm a car salesman... I'm not going to trade it in especially for a V6 cuz the don't come in man. trans. yet. I'll prolly trade it in after a year or two of making extra payments, that way I won't be "upside-down" I saw a used lunar mist 5spd SE sport at the buick/cadillac dealer down the street from my work for 16,999 with 25,000 miles on it which is basically what I bought mine for 8) looks bone stock tho, no wheels or anything, I bought mine with wheels and tint already on with 600 miles... So... Basically what you're all trying to say here is f*ck it, don't waste the time and effort...

Tint costs almost nothing and adding new wheels and tires to that SE sport car would give you a pretty great car quite a bit better than you already have for not really that much more. You would just have to hope the 25,000 miles weren't driven super hard. It probably is close to needing new tires anyway. Was that SE Sport a 4 or a 6 cylinder?

I made the impulse buy on the solara myself; salesperson and mua were debating pricing on the rolla S in 2002 when i was like how much is that car...and they gave me a good price!!

if you see yourself driving this car for a few years keep it, i kept my 4banger cus i'm happy with the 500+ miles i get on every fillup with my driving and a/c blasting!

04SolaraGirlie:
You're a car salesman for which car make? Don't expect a manual transmission for V6 until Gen3 at the earliest and doubtful that will even be available then. The manumatic isn't that bad at all.
Jai_Jai:
Wow, 500+ miles on every fillup; is that with mostly highway? I could only get that with a V6 if 100% highway driven very conservatively.
