2004 Silver SLE rusting

Postby silversurfer220 » Tue Jun 07, 2005 8:27 pm

I was told that the rust proofing would cover any painted surface. The underside of the hood was sprayed with it. I'm in the process of fighting wtih Toyota (they think I made it rust by spraying it with vinegar and salt- WHY would I do that????). Also in the process of possibly dumping it for a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. I'm so frustrated with this car i could just scream

They should just give you a brand new hood.

Well IMO you're getting a very uncommon experience with Toyota, but if you wanna be bitter then be bitter, go ahead and drive your grand am, and be prepared for the thing to fall out far sooner than almost any Toyota will.

The paint on my 99 is still in incredible shape, so I don't know what the problem is, if they're going with cheaper paint, or maybe just where you live the waeather isn't doing it much good. Also if it sat on a dealer lot for a year and a half it was exposed to a lot of elements, and the fact it was garaged since then is excusable all things considered. I don't know, but all in all I think you're making a mistake siding with a Pointiac over a Toyota because of a little rust under the hood.
