Stolen from the Gen 1/1.5 ers...

Looks like this place has eyelids for Gen 2... although only in Carbon Fiber...

Although there are no pics of how it would look like on an actual car...

If only they had ones that match the colors of our car...

OK, so I bit the bullet and bought the paintable ones just for the heck of it. I was able to use the ToyotaNation group buy code for a grand total of $35. Their website allows the code for the Solara eyelids, but I emailed just to be sure.

I bought the paintable ones, although I probably wouldn't have time to get them painted as yet.

I figure I can give you guys an idea of what these will be like... I'm not having high hopes for this... and at thirty five bucks, it's worth a shot...

Now... can anyone let me know how I can paint these WITHOUT going to a paint shop? I have a relative that does painting, but I don't want to have to bother him for just two slivers of vinyl/plastic/whatever.

If you take a look at my cardomain site, you'll find under
My Favorite Links that Auto Accessory Store is one of my Sponsors...lolz  I've had them for a while now. Very aggressive lookin'...sorry no pics to show ya...lolz. It's probably one of the better looking eyelids I've seen on a Gen 2 Solara. Their design is very similiar to my own. I'm still deciding which ones to go with.

and

Michael,

Did you get the paintable ones? and if so, what paint did you use to paint yours? After your endoresement, I'm infinitely more excited about the lids.

I just ordered the vinyl ones cuz I didn't want to mess with painting them, can't wait to get them! I have 250 more bucks on my debit card I'm soooooooo tempted to buy the trd sping kit from toyotparts4u, it's taking every bit of strength left in me to resist the urge to reach in my purse right now, get out my card, and order them LOLz!

So... I got mine today...

However... they don't look ANYTHING like the pic they posted for the 04-05 Solaras...

I'm assuming they're the wrong ones since I can't figure out how they should fit! Argh!!!

So... after so much heck... I finally got the eyelids... the right ones!

Here are some pics...

All in all, I think I (sorry to say) like these more than Mike T's. And at $35, they're not too expensive... their regular price is a bit of a rip, though...

Now, I just need to find some time to get the color matching paint (which, btw, noone has said anything about! where should I get this? I think I saw some random website that was selling it for ~$30, including the clear coat). Anyways, I probably won't have time for another three months... studying for the Professional Engineering exam... :x
