I've finally given in, I'm getting an Ipod mini with the Auxpod (unless you guys can recommend a better one). Does anyone know of any good DIYs? Also, can you share any DOs or DONTs so I dont make a mess of the installation?

go to www.ipodlounge.com and search the forum for "solara"

Sorry, too lazy to post the link, but its a good walkthrough, doesnt sound too tough. Take some pics of your installation if you would.

Not to mention, around august there is a better ipod connection kit coming for automobiles. There are existing units, but i've heard some people not being satisfied with the output, hence apple has gone back to the drawing boards an is coming up with a good connectionkit. Again, this is all rumors..

This is the only DIY I was able to pull out, seems pretty clear. Does anyone know of any other DIYS on the 04s without navigation?

Hah! That's a quote from the SolaraGuy Tutorial (or he put the same thing in both forums more likely.) Anyway, there are a couple good descriptions of the process in the forum. Just give a search. I'm installing AUX2CAR in a couple weeks and will post with pictures once complete.

Nope. XM is the only option. Anything else if aftermarket. Even the NAV unit is lacking MP3 play which I always considered highly lame.

Speaking of ipods I just won one from ebay BRAND SPANKIN' NEW for $213.

I think I'll use a Belkin FM Transmitter to hook it up. I tried it out with a friends ipod and I was pleased.

Is the FM that much cheaper than an AuxPod? If you have stock HU, your steering wheel controls will work! I'm such a lazy ass when it comes to pushin' buttons.

yours wasn't the resurecting post. (But you may be a dumbass anyway... what do I know?) :)

I have an airplay FM transmitter for my ipod, and it worked fine in my old Camry, but it sucks in the Solara. I think it's antenna placement. If you hold the ipod at certain spots in the car it works better.

Speaking of which, where is the antenna located on a 99 SLE V6? This might aid me in better reception.

I think I'm just gonna get the thing that plugs into the bottom of the ipod because it charges it at the same time instead of actually using the battery and I assume because it has direct power from the adapter the signal may be better.

Hey do you guys think if I kept the FM transmitter in the back of the car away from the ipod but near the antenna I'd get better reception? Its a crazy idea but what do ya'll think?
