OEM Jbl amp to Pioneer N1?

OEM Jbl amp to Pioneer N1?

Postby Hsakuragi » Sat Jan 08, 2005 2:18 am

Anyone know how to do it? since i know the jbl amp adapter is only for the OEM headunit, does there a converter to the aftermarket amp adapter that i can plug into the headunit? I'm not really into audio so i just stick to the oem amp. Hope this make sense. !

I thought the N1 has an internal amp? You just have to bypass the stock amp (disconnect it... lol) and have the "output" from the amp get wired to the inputs from the headunit.
1GR-FE ftw!

it does, but i think i meant the jbl amp hardness that won't fit into the aftermarket stereo unit

the JBL amp will work fine with N1. No need to bypass, it runs high level all ready, our sttock units actually have power built into them, the jbl amp just cleans it up slightly and adds the extra juice, please be careful though and listen for distortion, you do have the ability to blow your speakers now, though jbl did a great job on protection for the amp, it turns itself down when it gets too hot (course it sits behind the dash, so not to much ventilation). I wouldnt bypass it personally, and you dont need the harness with the RCAS on it, you just need to look further back and you will find the white plugs that are plugged into another harness. Just get a metra 70-1720

the adapter you're looking at is the integration adapter so that your new h/u will use the jbl amp. If you wan't to just use your h/u power just get a normal adapter and look around behind your deck, you'll see the normal (non amplified) connectors, use those.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

Personally I would bypass the OEM JBL amp and use the Pioneers internal amp. The problem with running the Pioneer with the onboard amp is that when you turn the volume up on the new headunit, the voltage of the Pioneer is greater than the stock headunits. The amp can be overdriven and the volume is changed too fast.

Also I'm pretty sure the Pioneer's onboard amp is going to have more power than the factrory amp.

Here's a tutorial on bypassing the factory amp.

Also you may or may not want to upgrade the N1 to the new software. here's a discussion on that topic.
