green backlight?

Postby Down2TheC » Tue May 03, 2005 3:07 pm

It might not come in a box but almost anything is changeable. But bitchin' about it ain't gonna make it another color. You can customize your dash but it takes research and effort. Build it and they will come...

That blue in the pic is way off. It's more bluish green than that. STill a different color than the other central lights.

Sorry guys, I gotta agree with him on this one. I have never been fond of the green. When I changed my HU, it helped, since Pioneer is blue, but all of the other gauges are still that icky green. I have blue interior lighting, so I'd love to have blue all the way around. If anyone comes up with a mod for this, please let me know.

When I get my manuals back I'll check to see what we have back there and how integrated things are.

What sucks is I never really noticed the design choice there... now the more I look at it the more odd it's looking. Thanks for bringing it up! Doh!

All the knobs and buttons on the navigation also light up green.

WTF? Mine is Black

Postby FLUXEMAG » Tue Aug 09, 2005 2:03 pm

My gauges are black, with blue and red lighting. They are not backlit on the face, but the numbers are backlit in blue. The stereo console is the same green as pictured. I've never seen another Solara with these gauges and I had never seen the car when I bought it. I just assumed it would have the green gauges shown in the brochure. It has a lot of options like the projector headlights and such... Honestly I prefer the green ones they match the stereo.

I believe he's talking about radio lights and temp control lights being green, while gauge lights are different (he wants them to match the gauges)... If this is the case... Here's a simple fix... Swap out your factory radio with one you like the looks of... and it wouldn't be very difficult at all to switch the control LEDs from green to blue (white, whatever your heart desires) if you are at all familiar with using a soldering iron and are patient enough not to break your trim... The dash comes apart very easily on both Gen 1s and Gen 2s... If you aren't comfortable, look at a Chilton's or a Hayne's guide... LED customization is not a big deal, and should only take about an hour and a half total, including radio replacement for a person with moderate know how...
