I just got these fogs too... I really like how they look, but if you see the pattern shots, doesn't it look too freakin' bright? Doesn't it overpower the HID's?

I never really paid attention to the beam pattern of the fogs before I changed it to the yellow bulbs... can anyone please let me know, after looking at my first pic, is that normal? That seems really high to me... or is it just that the I never noticed it before because it was white light?

I absolutely love the way it looks, but I don't want to cause anyone distraction...

Just remembered that I had some pics of the white/blue fogs... and the light pattern is about the same... it's just way more noticeable with the yellow ones... I think I'll need to go take a test drive to see how it'll perform. (I usually like having the fogs on when the headlights are on :)

The aim (height) of the fogs is adjustable and can be lowered (or raised) if necessary. Let me know if you need the procedure.

Are you talking about the aim?

Are yours much lower?

I thought it didn't look quite right... I guess I have affirmation now...

So, after finding out that you can reaim the fogs, I went and did a little exploring, and found where I can adjust... I just set it so that it focuses as far down as possible, and I get...

Image

IMO, it looks much better.

Would still like to see DocJohn's information (no rush, whenever you have time) to see if there is a proper way to get the aiming (a happy medium)...

If you compare this last pic with the ones on top, you can see that there is NO yellow on the building; there is yellow on the tree trunk. Might take another whack at it tomorow and turn the screw a full turn or two to see what it looks like.

Now, if I knew what fog lights were supposed to do, I can adjust accordingly... are they supposed to illuminate the ground? Shoot straight out? I'm assuming that shooting straight up is a no no... correct?

Looks super clean

Postby JayDubz » Thu May 05, 2005 8:25 am

Fogs are for your ground view they are supposed to aim low to cut under fog so you can see the road when visual gets bad... Mostly likly the reason you cant see the yellow on the building.. cuzz u have hid's.. the hid's are proably overpowering the yellow beam... because the beam looks pretty straight on the tree.. but u will see the power of the fogs directly on the ground in front of your car.. give or take 5 - 10 feet all around the front of your vehicle... Remember fogs are really only made for bad condition weather were visual is 5 - 0 feet... This is just my 2 cent anyone can correct me if im wrong.. Thanks...
P.S. maybe if you want a further beam for your fogs retro fit them with philips 3000k hid kit... they are yellow hid bulbs and bright like the sun.. would be a nice mod...

JayDubz,

I _didn't_ want to see the yellow on the building... I had that in the first set of pics... I was trying to see if the fogs were too low after I modified it...

In any case, thanks for the info about what fog lights are really for... I had always heard it was more for other people to see you, not necessarily for you to see the ground?
