A question about my stock rims

A question about my stock rims

Postby 04SolaraGirlie » Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:35 am

Ok so here's my problem. I bought my car with those sweet 18 inch rims on it that they just kind of "threw in" but they never showed me any credit towards the price of my stock rims, and when I asked about it they said that there was something credited towards the price of my car, but I never saw anything that said so... What should I do, I would like to have my stock rims as a back up incase one of the expensive lo-pro's blows out, or maybe to sell on ebay to put towards my car... What should I do?

Have them show you on the purchase agreement EXACTLY where the credit is. If they can't show you, then ask for the rims. Use them for snow tires in the winter - hahahaha!

You have to ask them how much the rims they put on your car were as an option. Then ask them to show you where on the reciept for your transaction they credited you for the stock rims. If they just swapped the rims out without charging you then you really have no recourse. Just enjoy the rims you have. BTW the rims that come with the car are 16 inch steel and are really useless to you anyway.

"Threw in"? Then they just didn't charge you for the "upgrade". I'd say you're stuck with what you have. Dealers have fuzzy math and the bottom line is that unless you have both rims listed on the invoice you signed, you'll never see the second set. Invoice probably says "Solara w/..... and "18 rim option". If you got the TRD package at purchase they wouldn't have sent you home with a spare RSB and muffler in the trunk, right?

HAHA you're right! I was so excited When I got my car I wasn't even thinking about that... I was at work and I remembered how I overheard someone saying that if the customer asks for the stock wheels legally they have to give thim back, so I went back the next day and that's when they told me that there was a credit for the stock ones... I knew they were BSing me but I had no proof... There was an adendum on the window that said the upgrade included $1,895 for the wheel and tire upgrade, and $495 performance window tint... But on my P.O. it just said cash price $17,000 and $695 "optional accesories" which I later figured to be my lo-jack...

oh, and referring to the "threw in" thing the car already had this stuff on there, and with my credit situation they had to do what they call an 80% structure in order to get me financed, which means that I can't finance any more than 80% of the invoice cost of the vehicle AFTER taxes, and after any rebates, discounts, and cash down has been applied (note this does not include "back end" items like warranty, gap insurance, paint sealant, alarm, etc... This is where they REALLY make their profit) so they discounted the car very heavily, but let me keep the wheels, they kind of threw them in... See what I'm sayin' now?

from what i understand, the stock rims are steel and any alloy wheels are upgrades, the ones i have are 16" alloy and i thought about getting the 18" trd ones, but decided that the 16's r fine for me,to high a risk of getting them damaged if i ever hit any thing, and not to mention that 16 inch tires are cheaper than 18 inchers

Mine came with 17" alloy. Don't think they put the 16s on that convertible.
