Playing Labelled CDs? and XM Radio text cut offs

Postby blarneystone » Sat Apr 16, 2005 8:40 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there plays home burned CDs with labels on them in their Solaras? I haven't tried it because I heard somewhere it might not be recommended.

Also, I've noticed while I play XM Radio that some of the Text is cut off and it has an arrow pointing to the right. It is as if I hit the right button I could read the rest of the Text. I've tried hitting every button I can think of but still I end up with song titles that look like:

The devil went dow ->

Any ideas?

All of Toyota's XM equipment including navigation only show up to 10 characters of XM text.

Sad, especially when you want to see how many outs there are on MLB channels :-?

Toyota XM Policies:

I cannot understand why a $400. Toyota XM Reciever shows only 10 characters?

When I go to Best Buy the $99. XM Reciever shows all the text.

Come on Toyota you can do better. While they are at it they should

upgrade to the newer, smaller Terk Antenna instead of the old- tech

brick antenna they are currently using.

And while we are on a roll complaining about Toyota they should pre-wire

all their cars for XM Sat so that the Dealerships only have to bolt in the

reciever in the trunk, plug in the wires and mount the antenna.

Instead of the current practice of having the lot boy make a mess of your

new dash (note to dealer: a screwdriver is not a dash panel removal tool.)

The Ultimate would be that Toyota would pre-install XM Sat on all Toyos

that have the upgraded Stereo systems like their competion does.

There I feel better and I did not feel the need to tell how how the Dealer

ruined the dash in my new car mounted the reciever in the wrong spot

and they could not even put the trunk lining back in the trunk because the

reciever was sticking out too far.

The worst part was when they tried to BS me that this is how it is installed.

I had to go to a stereo installation shop to fix their f---up because I got

tired of listening to the incompetent dealership staff.

I know mine is not the only bad experience.

Was the XM saga worth it absolutely. No dropouts on a drive from

Florida to California and great programming.

Yeah. Starting in 2006, Toyota will have XM as a FACTORY installed option. About time. I think they were looking for demand first and it seems to be rather high, and not to mention Toyota inked a deal with Sirius for dealer installed options. Even our decks could support Sirus with a Sirus box and antenna.

I have the mini Terk antenna on my roof and ran the wire to the trunk under the weatherstripping, wasn't difficult at all. Just had to shell out another $20 for the XM splitter for our "old" XM boxes

The vinyl removal tool is nothing more than a very thin plastic scraper and I used the med tape like the instructions said to prevent any damage.

But I couldn't agree with you more, the wiring should have been preinstalled so it could have been plug-and-play. But next year...[/b]

technole, is Toyota going with XM or Sirius? You mention both in your post, yet they are different satellite services.

Toyota renewed its contract with XM earlier in the month.

But Toyota also did ink a deal with Sirus earlier. However it'll be an accessory to be installed as a dealer option starting in 2006.

if its something your really into having cds with printed labels on them why not look at 1 of the fairly cheap epson printers with the print tray for cds, and buy print label ready cds

i dont know if id put a self made cd im my car cause it does get hot inside cars and id hate it if a label pealed back and got all stuck up inside the cd drive does the manual say anything about labels cds?
