What color Solara Should I buy?

Postby cablemn » Wed Apr 13, 2005 5:33 pm

I went with red. It shows the lines of the car the best. Cosmic blue is the last color i would get, it just doesnt look exciting. FORGET BLACK!!!!
If you dont want to live next to a wash bucket and rub your fingers to the bone waxing and trying to get swirlies out of your paint dont get black. JMO

Cosmic Blue Metallic

Don't think so. I know what he's talking about. My '92 Camry had a great light blue metalic. Wish they had something like it for ours. Avalon has a color like that. The Cosmic stuff looks almost purple in the sun. Very chick-ish. (Sorry to any guys out there in Cosmic Blue.) Saw an "Frost" on the road today and I gotta say... very sweet. Worth the extra $$.

I would've bought arctic frost, but it was kinda a "right place at the right time" type of thing, they had 3 '04's parked right up front (being as it was march in '05 my assumption was they were hurtin' to get rid of them) there were two cosmic blue ones then my silver se with the 18's, the silver one kinda jumped at me and I was like "Uhhh (as I wiped the drool from my face) I'll take this one" hehehe but I drove by the dealership about a week later and saw an arctic frost se sport parked in the spot where my car was... I was like "D'oh! Where was this when I bought my car?" I was pretty livid, but it's ok I'm really happy with my car... So, in closing I like white pearl best, but silver (especially on the solara cause it's metallic silver) is very classy too...

So any challenge about the color is followed by a Zzzzip-Thud sound?

When waxed and detailed, the Cosmic Blue looks fantastic. I like the way the color sort of dances around the lines of the my SE Sport.
BTW, I'm comfortable with my masculinity.
Although, if Phantom Grey Pearl was available, I'd be all over it.

WHITE OR RED!

Postby mmcdonald » Fri Apr 15, 2005 9:45 am

Of the three color choices you gave, my answer is "NOT BLACK!" If you have ever tried to take care of black paint, and especially the thin paint on the hoods of these babies, you will not get black. Plus its a dangerous color. My wife backed into mine pulling down the driveway at night cause she couldn't see it. Fortunately no damage.

White is the safest color (700% less likely to be hit by another car), and red, well, you can call that "arrest me red." I had a red car and was never busted, but it may depend on the cops around your area.

Anywho, not black. Yeah, I said that... mumble...

Negatives of pearl white paint:

1. Pearl paint is the hardest to match up if repainting after damage.
2. The white pearl paint shows a difference in color between the bumpers and the car after a few years, more so than other colors. My Gen1 showed slight yellowing on the bumpers and I've seen that on many white pearl Acura TL's too. Drove me crazy.
3. Makes the car appear bigger.

Otherwise it looks great.
