Anyone have any water leaks in their sle convertible?

Anyone have any water leaks in their sle convertible?

I am having water leak through the window speaker on the driver side. I took it to the dealership and they said there was no water leak yet there is a big dry spot by the speaker :( Any ideas or suggestions? Anyone experience this problem?

Water leaks

Postby drace99 » Tue Mar 15, 2005 7:46 am

Hey,

No water leaks on my 04 convertible, unless I wash it and direct the stream of water on the windows. Kind of annoying. I would have the dealer check the leak again and replace anything that is water damaged as well. Good luck!

That's just dripping from the side of the front seal at the window. If the window's open, everything runs off the windshield right to that point. If the window's closed, I get a couple drips on occasion. It's just a ragtop thing that you have to live with. Keep the window closed when it's raining and if you open it, you need to wipe up the drips. That's my ride anyway.

Nah, I just came back from vacation...and a week later, more water. (I went inside on the passenger door) I am taking it back up to the dealership. The speaker is very loose. I can move it with my hand which is a bad thing, yet they could not notice this? I'll keep you updated if anyone else there has this problem..Oh yeah, they replaced the motor that puts my window up and down because it was bent inside the door. Now, how did that happen, heh

Thanks for your input

Problem fixed! The speaker was loose and they cemented it and tightened the rubber around the window since it was loose. Rained and no leak!

Glad to hear the good news. Just to change the subject, do you have any rattling around the windows? The dealer said I have to deal with the chattering noise because it is a convertible and there is no window frame. Any input?

I have no rattles from my droptop or around the windows. Dealer is giving you a line. Go out with them on a test drive so they can hear what you hear. Make sure they have their hearing aids turned on!

My passengers side window rattles over bumps on my 05 convertible. It gets worse if you have used the window recently. I have ridden in the passengers seat and stuck my finger up into the rubber boot where the window seats when closed and the rattle goes away. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother trying to get them to fix it, I'm so sick of dealing with all the problems I have had with this car that I have decided to just drive it untill the lease is up and walk away from it. Let the next poor fool who gets this car try to deal with them.
When in doubt gas it out, brakes just slow you down.

Funny you say that, I do have a rattle only on my passenger side window. But I had to basically argue with my dealership as they told me there was no leak until I brought it in with water and a speaker that I could move. Seems like they are lazy and will not inspect the car out...Will give it a month before I go back again

We may be talking different rattle here but just in case this might help some of you, I figured out my intermittant chatter. It only happened top up on really windy days or when behind a semi and now and then over big bumps. The cross bar right over the drivers head is somehow springloaded to stay down with the top closed. When driving fast, (Bernoulli will tell you) you create a vacuum on the top of the car, which pulls up on the structure. Then that bar can lift and seat rapidly over a bump causing a rattle/chatter noise. drove me nuts trying to find the source. If you push up on the bar while stopped and let it seat, you'll recognize the noise. I've pushed on the bar while it's happening and it stops. Only thing that would fix it would be a little strip of fabric between the metal that's hitting but I think I'll look into it in the Spring. I can live with it now that i know where it's coming from.

Yeah, sorry dude. I looked today and noticed that the speaker was way forward of that connection in the seal. I was coming to post and saw your fix. Glad you got it but it worries me to know there's that much water flowing behind the speaker! (And that it's considered okay) Never thought of the speaker as a water tight thing.

That is SO WRONG!. Hope they get it fixed. Any chance it's the roof? I can't imagine that much water wanting to come in the window seal unless it was a hurricane.
