Call TRD USA

SImpsons

Postby mmcdonald » Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:29 pm

On the Sipmsons last night there was a row of SUVs blocking Homer and Marge on the highway and Marge was frustrated that she couldn't get around them. Homer says, "Wait, there is a gentle curve up ahead..." and all the SUVs went rolling off the highway, crumbling and catching on fire. It was a hoot!

Anywho, I'm with Homer on the 4Runner issue. My wife has one and I don't like to drive it. I have driven 28foot fixed bed manual trucks, so it's not a truck thing. They are just top heavy for a pick up truck (yes, they are on a pick up platform).

Anyone at TRD you talk to will not be able to speedup the process. The higher ups decide when, where, and if at all. Legality and emissions delay much more than you would expect. I have seen a lot of stuff that would sell like crazy, but did'nt make it through these 2 areas.

Toyota (TRD) is notorious for dragging their feet about any emission related item. Whatever they tell you, add AT LEAST 6 months to. A few years back, the 4.7L supercharger was supposed to be out late winter-early spring, a year later it finally was made available.

I always talk to Jomar at TRD, he usually won't b.s. you.

So how about we target some after market vendors and pester them?

Like, maybe we get a thread together for different items and then call selected vendors. We can even tell them we have selected them and would like them to develop the product and commit to purchasing a certain number of units.

I know this has been tried before, but we could tell them we have given up on TRD and are waiting with cash in hand.

Whatcha fellas (and ladies) think?

Not to be a rain cloud on parade day, but, someone who spent $ 25K - $ 35K on your 2nd or 3rd most important investment (those of you with #1 - kids and #2 - houses). should'nt have to risk voiding your warranty because Toyota moves so slow. I think that we should find the highest ranking person with a big set of brass balls that will listen to what the consumer is asking for, and get it done. I mean come on, a supercharger, how hard could that be. We are not asking to go to Mars. What is the number of members in this forum?

More Power is the solution for your problem.

"Bolt on 50-80% more emissions legal horsepower"

Now that is what I am talking about!!!

http://www.procharger.com/SPORT_COMPACT/sport_compact.shtml

Maybe one of us Gen 2 V-6ers should be the first for a procharger.

I know I can handle 340-400 horsepower in my ride, can you!!!!!!!!!

They make a generic kit for our car, however I would love to see a

Gen 2 Solara specific bolt-on kit made available.

Anybody want to be the first to hit 400 ponies in a Gen 2 Solara?

A good majority of the people that work at TRD don't even know what they are talking about.

Good point. They told me that when you run this x.xx" size pulley you'll get this xxpsi boost because they've tested it. When I told them I run 13psi on the s/c with their 10psi pulley they couldn't say anything to me. All they said was "....you no you've voided your warranty."

Just got off the phone with TRD USA (1-800-688-5912). I asked about performance upgrades...They say they are working on a supercharger, but just having trouble with the increase in the air intake. Anyway, I think if we make a couple of NON-annoying phone calls they may try to figure out the trouble/bug and get us a supercharger more quickly.
