Well, i swapped out my soft sle springs for the solara sport springs i got on ebay for 30 bucks. The job cost me $100. my mechanic hooked me up.
I have to say its quite a nice ride. The sport springs with the stock sle struts are a nice combination. The car corners flat but rides really smooth. I test drove a sport when i bought my sle and now i think ive achieved the best of both models. Of course the trd sway bar makes a difference too.

I dont know how thing are where you live but up here in ny we have unions and things cost a little more here. for my area 100 bucks IS a deal.
It usually would cost double that. can anyone back me up on that whos had their springs installed by a dealer?

BTW i've been tooling around town today around my familiar haunts and checking how the new springs are working. and im very impressed. Id have to say its one of the more rewarding mods that ive made relative to the money spent. Id rank it right up there with the rear sway bar as far as most improvement for the money.

The solara sport springs are thicker and slightly lower than the the springs that come on the SLE and i didnt want the ride to be stiffer, i just wanted to cut down on body roll in the turns. Its all about personal taste. I'm also not looking to spend thousands on mods either. OEM solara sport struts are way expensive and there just isnt any alternative out there yet so i went for the most bang for the buck.
Why am i getting the feeling that this thread is turning ugly? You guys seem to be flaming me for what i did. Not that i really care. But i thought someone might find this interesting. I'm not trying to impress anyone i'm just sharing my ideas and point of view which is what this forum has been about. Ah, nevermind.

Cablemn,
Thanks for posting the info on what you are doing. That's what this forum is all about. It isn't to make fun of people that don't mod that much or spend alot of money doing so. Feel free to share and ignore those that have nothing good to say. Everyone has their own budget and wants. Your idea was an innovative way to get some bang for the buck. Let us know your continuing observations on the performance of it.

I just switched out to TRD springs, but at the same time installed a TRD RSB. My handling has improved 10 fold, but im not quite sure if it was the RSB or the springs. Anyhow, buy both... its worth the money

cable mm isnt not recommeded that you install the springs on an SLE. I heard eventually your shock are gonna blow because the SLE was not intended to be used with the springs. On the other hand... the dealer said it was perfectly fine to have them on a SE cause of the sports tuned suspension? Can anyone verify if this is valid?

Cableman: GOOD for you! Like you i went with trd springs+stock struts (on my gen1). I'm at 11K miles and still going strong on this setup. I'm still not boucy like tigger - and i'm confident i can ride like this easily for another 11K or more miles. I know gen 1's and gen 2's are not all same but here's my THUMBS UP!

Edit for the critiques: I know a day will come when i'll have to replace struts, but i'm just riding out my process..once tokico's go in i would have no need for OEM struts. Hence my view...ride out the process....some people told me it would be days/weeks/months before i would need this swapped out...I'm proving them wrong!

*PoshPizzie* wrote:But Cablemn didnt go with TRD springs... he went with stock SE sport springs... which is why we were (or at least I was) asking the question about what it did for him...

Sometimes a question is just a question (and not "flaming" anyone)...

There are few people here (no way pointing to you) who just join bandwagon of saying what others say..cus its been said before...and they believe it and keep saying it - thereby reaffirming themselves. My comments for trd springs + stock struts was like a methaphor of thinking outside the box. (similarity to his idea of using sport springs + stock struts). When i proposed the likewise on my setup....people told me i would bounce soon....but i'm proving the critiques wrong! but this thread is not about me - IMO $100 for springs intall was a good price!
