According to what I can find, this person is selling an Injen model IS2032P intake which is designed to fit the '03 Solara and Camry 3.0 V6 VVt-i, which means its not gonna fit a Gen 2 V6 Solara.

still no intake for Gen 2

Postby michaels artic frost » Wed Mar 16, 2005 7:19 pm

I sent an email to Paul Ho at Injen and this is what he had to say.

The pictures he has are from a Acura RSX and a Hondas Accord.

Paul also confirmed that there are still no application for the 2004 Solaras.

Looks like we wait....lolz.

Again, still no Injen intake application for Gen 2!!!

Postby michaels artic frost » Thu Mar 17, 2005 4:49 pm

Okay, here’s the deal about this ebay listing of the 2004 Solara intake for our cars.

I contacted the ebay seller and advised him that there were no intakes for our cars.

Ebay seller replied:

Contacted Paul at Injen and Paul confirmed of no intake for our cars.

I advised the ebay seller and ebay seller replied:

I forwarded Paul the above email and Paul replied:

Sorry for the confusion Michael. The marketing team put the part
numbers
for the 2004-2005 Solaras/Camry's before I could pull them off the
shelves.
So they are actually in the Application guide but not in production. If
anybody tries to order it, we will let them know that they are not
available
yet.

Paul

Again, still no Injen intake application for our cars! CARB issues!!!

Hope this clears things up.

Cheeezzzzeeee :D

Michael:

Great job getting this cleared up. It sounds like it was an honest mistake on the part of the e-bay seller. Thanks for your efforts here.
It just goes to show the value of this (Solaraguy) site. I hope people who do not have the inside scoop on the problems with the Injen Gen 2 V6 intake (as we do) did not get stuck with buying one of these expecting it to fit their 04-05 Solara

DocJohn,

As you stated bro, the ebay seller is an honest seller. I replied to him with this linky along with Paul's info and commending him for his honesty.

This is one of the reason why I enjoy this site...very informative.

Thanks for looking out bro.

What carb issues?

Postby mmcdonald » Fri Mar 18, 2005 5:09 am

What carb issues does Injen have? We have sequential electronic fuel injection, not carbs. Not even a throttle body. Perhaps this is why they are having a hard time figuring out the carb issue? :D

^^^Nice work John! :) ^^^

I just got a reply from the ebay seller. If, Injen ever releases the Gen 2 application, he's is ready and willing to give us a group buy. That's saying if I can not get a better group buy deal directly through Injen themselves.

A group buy would be great IF/WHEN Injen gets this intake on the market.

You know with a possible 1-2 year wait from Injen, Swiftoy's idea about removing the "flapper valve" (aka: Intake Air Control (IAC) valve #3) (remember his thread on this? http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=14214 ) is now starting to look more interesting. If only I could figure out a way to keep the valve in the full-open position without having to destroy it (cut it out).

Well...

Postby mmcdonald » Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:56 am

For my money, I would like to see a run down of the steps involved in disabling the IAC Valve #3 rather than removing it. The secondary filter should be an easier issue.

I think that since the stock intake system is already a cold air system, that going to a shorty (injen) might do more harm than good, escpecially in the warm and toasty south-east.

I saw the nice pics that Swiftoy posted, but I would still like to have the steps. Perhaps DocJohn has the docs! :D

(Okay, see, that was a joke, too. DocJohn, Docs! He has posted docs in the past, he has the manuals... oh, never mind.)
