The latest that i heard was that these parts are on national backorder.
Which is why the price is soooo astronomical. I mean 3300 bucks for a bunch of abs plastic is insane. And thats not even painted or installed.
Yes i did get them from another member who got them from ebay and luckily it was in my color. Monday is the day of install and this friday i get my solara sport springs installed. Now i need to get my stock rims chromed and a good set of sport tires and i'll be good to go.

Solara body kit

Postby hatch » Thu Mar 17, 2005 1:31 pm

I happen to be a parts manager at a Toyota dealer in Dallas. I saw a post on the gfx kit for the 2004 -2005 Solara, did some research, and found that the 2004 pieces are available except for the right skirt, which supercedes to the 2005 part #. I noticed the install kit is discontinued and am trying to find out what's up. I read your posts on dealer problems and some of the idiots you deal with, sorry to say, like anyother place of business, these jobs only pay so much and the guys who give a *&$% are far and few between. I'll be glad to assist anyone with getting there questions answered are helping you with parts at a serious Solaraguy discount. email me with any questions @ parts@fowlertoyotadallas.com or post it here. good to know we got someone on the "inside". I am sure there are a lot of people here with SEs and SLEs (including myself) who are interested in getting gfx kits at a decent price. Just let us know what you find out and how to communicate it to our dumb@ss dealers.

Ok, it appears that the individual pieces (the only way to order) come with the mounting hardware. That is why I am being told the install kit was discontinued. Also, the individual clips, screws, grommetts etc... can be ordered seperately (in case of a wreck or detatchment). I will post a price that I can get these for shortly. These parts are primered only. Not a problem really, any reputable body shop should be able to paint it your color for $150.00-$250.00.

I just hooked up with hatch regarding pricing on another part (see post for windscreens) If hatch can continue to provide pricing on parts like he did on my inquiry we should start throwing busness his way!

Thanks again hatch!

2005 gfx parts: $ 1850.00 plus freight, availabilty - parts on backorder, atleast 1 week for me to receive.
2004 gfx parts: $ 1650.00 plus freight, availabilty - all but one piece currently in stock, right side skirt on B.O. atleast 1 week for me to receive.
Much better than $ 3300.00 listed in another post.
Remember these are primered, and availabilty is subject to change frequently. No sales tax if you do not live in Texas.

Hatch...you are the man, albeit a little late...but still the man. I do not require your services now that i have most of my problems resolved as my kit is being installed on monday, but way to go. there might be one other thing you could help me with though. I would like to finish my SLE "SPORT" transformation with a set of oem solara v6 Sport struts front and rear. What kind of a deal can i expect $?
I'm sure quite a few solara sport wannabes like me are interested.
And by the way, welcome.<------ (rolls out the red carpet)

Well my kit is finally on and i love it. A SPORT SLE V6. It was a pain in the a$$ but its done. I did not do it myself but i'm very familiar with how it was done. The sideskirts are real easy. They go on the same way you take the stock ones off using the same mounting hardware, nothing changes. Heres the step by step for the rest of the pieces.
1. remove front bumper cover. I know its a pain but theres no other way.
On the reverse side of the bumper you will see outlines of where the slots need to be cut. They have to be exact for the tabs on the kit to fit right. Too big and the lips will float around. Too tight and youll never get them in. My body guy said the outlines were hardly visible for the front lips so be careful.
2. Once the slots are cut insert tabs and lock into place with the white retaining clips. There is a pic of one of these clips in place behind the bumper cover at my picture site. I will include the link at the end.
3. Replace front cover and youre done. The other tabs that go under the car use the existing screws. just piggy back them. when youre under there this will make sense. Simple but difficult if that makes any sense.
4. Remove rear bumper cover. The outlines for the slots that need to be cut are more pronounced and easier to see. Possibly because they are not on a drastic bend as the fronts were. Repeat the same steps as with the front taking care to cut the slots exactly within the outlines. A dremel would be a good tool to use for this job. DO NOT use a utility knife or similar tool. It may cause the slot to travel when the car is bumping around.
5. Insert tabs into the slots working your way around till its done. The body guy said its not that easy to insert the tabs. He said he really had to give it a shot to snap them in. He also said they fit so tight he really didnt think the retaining clips were necessary but he installed them anyway.
6. Replace rear bumper cover and youre finished Stand back and admire your work. Or if youre lazy like me pay a body guy $200.

Each piece of the body kit comes with everything you need to install it except the tools of course.lol If you have aquired a kit like i did and need the part number of the retaining clips let me know. I dont have the number on me right now i left it at work.
Heres the link to my site for the pics. Sorry about the construction mess in the driveway, Im having my house renovated and its a nightmare.
Anyway i hope this helps. I wasnt able to take pics of the whole process, i do have to work you know. I'll be glad to answer any questions. http://cablemnspics.mypicgallery.com/

Awesome job and pics Cablemn. I really like the two front pieces and wonder how they'll look if only they are put on. I really want to keep my mud flaps since I think they're needed in this climate.
