Are there ANY performance upgrades for the Gen 2 yet?!?

So, I have been looking and looking, and no on has any performance upgrades for the Gen 2 yet. All I see are gear shift knows, and gold medallions. Maybe some hood protectors. Other than the TRD RSB and FSTB and lowering springs... nothing.

Where is this stuff at? I need a better induction system, better exhaust, and perhaps a retuned chip, if you can do that. Then better brake pads and rotors.

Yeesh, no one even makes tires for the stock 17"! What did Toyo do to us? I am going to get a make/model with plenty of mods available next time.

Just remember, there's not a lot for the gen1 either. What we have for the gen1 is because people went out to get it done. You people with the gen2 need to get out and hit up some companies to make shlock-dock-wikki-wacki-dacki happen. Because we all know that the Solara isn't the most popular car to mod.

At least TRD came out with the supercharger for the gen.1, I am also getting fustrated at the lack of parts available. And I have been emailing several companies with no luck. I hate nitrous, but that is the direction most people are telling me to go with the lack of performance parts available.

upgrades...

Postby drace99 » Tue Mar 15, 2005 12:54 pm

I am also looking and looking for performance upgrades. I understand we have to wait for an intake from injen. Any other companies I should be contacting to move them along with making mods for the gen 2? Please let me know, as I have nothing better to do with my time.

Well

This is part of the cause if my frustration. I have been trying to contact companies, but they won't even reply to me sometimes. I asked TRD about a supercharger or additional parts, and no reply.

Given the parts they have released for this car (FSTB, RSB, Springs, air filter, medallions, shift knobs, vanity parts and a VERY expensive do-nothing muffler!) it looks like they have niched us as posers.

I had been planning to keep this ride for some years, maybe have the motor rebuilt after 150K with some trick parts, but forget that. I am going to have to move to another manufacturer who ALREADY sells PERFORMANCE parts for the vehicle BEFORE I buy one.

The only other aftermarket parts I have found (besides the mostly poser spring kits - meaning performance people buy them, but so do mostly posers) is brake kits. I can't even get tires!

Try contacting tcturnerz.com they have alot of performance upgrades for the Scion TC which has the same 2.4 engine platform.
Maybe they could do some adjustments for the Solara parts.
They have headers, intakes, turbos for the TC 2.4

don't have a 2.4

Postby mmcdonald » Thu Mar 17, 2005 5:46 am

I didn't get the 2.4, so I already have all the power the aftermarket parts for that motor can provide in stock trim. I need MORE! A supercharger or turbo, some headers, exhaust system, reworked chip, real shocks, better brake lines (okay, I can get those) rotors (okay, there are some of those), better suspension, driveline parts, then let's talk about beefing up engine internals...

I WON'T GET A HONDA MOTORS (HOMO) VEHICLE!

Sigh, Nissan, here I come...

oh...

BTW, I did get hooked up with someone who could do a custom set of headers, but that was $2K minimum, and a week without the car at least.
