Finally got it to them

Finally got it to them

Postby Willy7o2 » Thu Feb 17, 2005 11:58 am

I finally got my car back to dealership for problems.

They relubed my moonroof for the noise when opening, changed the sway bar bushing for queaky noises, and they ordered new springs for my left drift problem.

They also told me they recommend that I get my air-filter changed because they say my K&N is not as good as their recommended, and they want to flush my tranny fluids, steam clean my engine, and do something with the battery for a total of like $320. Is that necessary? WTF?

Thanx for ur input

They'll always say that their air filter is better than others, don't listen to them. How many miles do you have? Tranny flush should be at 15k miles. Because there's no reason you need to steam clean if you got an '04. Dealerships always tell you that you need to do all this unnessasary stuff. Most of them are B.S.

tranny flush at 15K?

Postby jig47 » Fri Feb 18, 2005 3:49 pm

Maybe I am just stupid, but why would you need a tranny flush at 15K. I know some people with work trucks with 100K+ that have never done anything to their trans. Secondly, whenever I go to the dealer for warranty work, they rarely if ever find anything wrong but like to steal your hard earned cash at every opportunity. Suggest you read your maintenance manual and go with the light duty recommendation. Your engine/tranny are warranteed for 5 years 60K miles. If anything goes wrong, dealer will tell you all the cars do it and not fix it anyway. Sorry for the rant, but you get my drift :agrue:

flush should be every 30k, not 15k....

drain and fill every 15k if you drive VERY HARD...

i think because trucks has an extra tranny cooler, just like the sequoia to cool down the fluid...and since our cars only has this tiny COOLER in the radiator..

i am sure it is in your user manual and i dont think it's 15k because that would be too high maintenace, so NOT toyota.

report to toyota headquater that they try to jack you!! because of your age or race. you may also contact k&N and inform them that your dealer claimed their filter fack up your car, see how would they response.

Thanx for all your input.... so, I'll tell them to just fix the problems I brought in for and forget their recommendations....

Lately, I have notice that my car response has been laggy... maybe I should get my tranny fluids changed? Or the fuel injectors cleaned or something? Is it easy to change tranny fluids?

NO reason to change tranny fluids or clean fuel injectors on such a new car.

The tranny fluid should not be changed at all. Read your maintenance manual, and you will see that the tranny is not supposed to be touched for any regular maintenance (not for the Solara anyway). As far as the car being "laggy", you may be better off asking the dealership to reset your computer. I had my computer reset because of the lag issue, and even though it didn't eliminate the lag completely, it did improve the car's behavior and it improved my mileage by about 2 mpg.
