Solara Fixes coming soon

Hey im thinking about taking my car into toyota to get a list of items fixed since i wont be driving my car for bout a month. anyways i dont know if the dealer will fix or replace all items, but the car is still under warrenty

Car is a 2004 Black SLE, i have had the car since may of 2004

1. the Front doors make really loud clicking noise when opening and closing. someone told me they just need to tighten some stuff, but thats one item i would like to get fixed.

2. Left drift problem. I wanted to get this fixed earlier but have not made the time. anyway its really anoying having to constantly put force on the wheel.

3. A Piece fell off the bottom of my car one day when i was heading to class, its a plastic cover of some sort, its chillin in my trunk right now, need them to put that back on. This was due because i had to get some piping replaced and i dont think they fastened the cover all the way on at the shop

4. Trunk Tray Rattles pretty bad when playing music. Now i do have some subs in the trunk but it used to rattle with the stock jbl speakers and i dont think that should happened. iv put some stuff in there to try to decrease it a bit, but it still rattles. Iv herd some people have just gotten the tray replaced or whatever is rattling so much in the back of the car.

5. Bad Exaust smell(sulfer smell) when gas is pushed on hard for a few sec. can only notice it sometimes. doesn't happened often. I dont know how they would go about fixing this.

6. Moon roof Squecking noise. Although this doesn't really bother me that much, the moon roof makes a really loud noise when its lifted or open. My friend said i should have them look at it.

i cant think of any other problems that stick out to me that i can remember
if anyone can list other problems they have had it would be helpful

Maybe his car was built on a Friday. :-? The rear shelf might be fixed by putting more insulation there.

I have the same car and found out that the rattling is actually caused from the rear speakers not handling the bass. You can actually go in the trunk and unhook the mids with a plug. Try that and see if that helps, it did with mine. I ordered new speakers from ebay and they should be in by the end of the week. Hopes this helps with one of your problems.

i know the 1st problem~ i had that problem on my passenger side door b4~
go back to dealer and ask them to fix it.
it's under warranty~
that noise is cause by window rubber installed unproperly.
they will pull ur door panel out and re-rout the rubber...

i had trunk rattle sound b4..
but... donno why, it's gone by itself for no reason~ :o
but roof noise starts happening recently...

Well, I'm about to take my car to dealership too.... I have the following problems:

Left Drift problem

Moonroof make loud squeaking noise when opening or lifting after leaving out in sun.

Rattling from somewhere in front dash when hitting bumps

Rattling from back area, think its speaker housing, when playing music over 35 volume

Its only been 18k miles, I feel engine vibrations like crazy on my wheel

and recently, I realize that when I hit a bump on back wheels, there's a really loud squeaking noise, sounds like its from the spring... really bad!

Heres the problem... will they fix all these problems under warranty? Will leaving in my TRD Rear sway bar give me any problems to claim for warranty coverage? And, do they give out a rental car while my car is in shop, cuz my friend got a TL when he brought his MDX back for warranties.... I can't do without a car for more than a day.

All those problems sure sound like they'd be covered under warranty and some have TSB's already so don't worry too much and insist they fix everything under warranty if the dealership gives you any problems. Sorry to hear you had the bad luck to have all of those problems. Let us know how they are all resolved.

The sqeak youre hearing is from the sway bar bushings which need to be relubed every so often. Unfortunate but true. It does not effect your warrantee. But...when i brought in my car for a horrible thump that i get from the right rear the toyota tech told me it was my sway bar. It wasnt at all but he insisted and removed and relubed the sway bar anyway used a lithium lube which is the wrong thing to use and replaced the bar. Now its squeaking more than ever. You must use the type of lube the bar came with. A silicon based glue like lube. It will last the longest.
Also it would be a good idea to search out all the tsbs for the problems you have with your car and all the complaints you see here on solaraguy and print them out. Make a little information package for the service rep so they cant bullshit you. They swore up and down that there were no tsbs for my car when i knew differently. I recently went to www.nhsta.gov and read the numerous complaints about the left pull problem, so it couldnt hurt to print those out too. I used this process for a nissan altima which had similar problems and all were finally fixed. If you hand them proof it will be hard for them to pull the wool over your eyes. Good luck.
