Gas fill shortage.

Gas fill shortage.

This is just one of those "is it just me" checks. When I fill my '04 conv, the nozzle
clicks off and if I trickle and top off I can get 1.5 to 2 gallons more in there.
When I first got her I was bummed that she was getting low 300's to the tank until
I figured it out. Now I can get 370 on the avg. Just me or by design?
Probably a safety thing. I'm taking her in next week and building my list.
(Oh yeah... and tops down in IL tomorrow. could hit 50)

not cold in that area.

its 11:35pm and its 52 outside here in so cal.

as for the gas thing, i think it is a safety measure, however 1.5-2 gallons is a lot, in fact too much for a safety feature.

before you did this (topping off), where was your fuel needle at after you did a refuel?

it's bad enough jonesin' for sailing season, now I'm jonesin'
all winter for ragtop days too.

I think it gets to F but I'll check today. how many miles do you get out of your tank when you're getting the average 21-22 mpg?

Actually in MN, there IS a law that states that ragtops should be lowered on the first 50 degree day (today), and that windows should be up with the temp set to 85 degrees with fan at full speed!

Just kidding, of course, but that's how I plan on getting home today!

I can't really answer that since I do not have a Gen 2.

However, just fyi, my gas mileage rank is amongst the old school muscle cars.

OK, no windows, but can I leave my seat on? It might hit 50 here in MI tomorrow too. I had the top down on New Years Eve, it was around 56 that day, felt good.
When in doubt gas it out, brakes just slow you down.

Yeah... It hit 52 here and I have to admit, I kicked in the seat warmer when I hit the
faster roads.

"Topping off" is a good way to flood the charcoal canister. Then sit and wait for the check engine lite to go on.
Not a good idea.

Eh... I'm not worried. been doing it for 11 months now without ever seeing gas overflowing the tube or an engine light.

I filled up yesterday. Pump shut off at 15.0. Gas guage showed pegged FULL. I kept filling until it clicked off right-away. Ended up with 16.9 gallons.

i have this problem too in my gen1
except sometimes it clicks off at like 2 gallons into the whole deal.

i think the gas tank filler tube is too angled or something and it sometimes splashes against the nozzle and causes it to click off. just a guess but mine clicks off way early, but i know to keep going.
