Anyone else besides me dim their console/instrument panel down to a point where the radio text display becomes barely readable? I do that so that i have less light coming into my eyes so i see farther on highways at night [to see boogies] :)

Red would be a much better color than blue - i just love BMW-style dashes 8)

I prefer blue or green much more to red. Red or orange to me is just too harsh. The Pontiac Grand Ams I thought had the worst lighting of any car with their many red lights. I leave my inside lighting at medium to high. Gotta see that nav clearly.

Does the toyota Nav unit auto-dim at night? Is there any sort of inverted-color mode for nighttime?

The Nav during the daytime is black streets on white background. When it's dark enough for the auto-on headlights to go on, the Nav auto switches to white streets on black background (basically an autodimming effect). Very cool and great for the eyes.

So the blue looks nice in the photoshop...

now the question is...how do we replace the green backlighting with the matching blue ones???

I'm happy enough with the green. Like you said, way too much taking apart the NAV to fix it. You can always set the main background color to blue to get more blue in the car if you like blue so much.

Although it may sound silly, one of the reasons why I got the navigation system is that it breaks up all that GREEN in the center console. If only the clock, trip computer display, temp display, and AC console were backlit blue, it would be almost perfect.

Very true, I agree. The look is better with the Nav regarding color clash.

anyone know why toyota uses LCDs for their climate control displays vs LEDs? The majority of the time it is extremely difficult to see the display. LEDs would have eliminated the issue.

Any workarounds to illuminate the display during daylight hours?
