for some reason the episode of the simpsons where Homer drives off with the parking boot still on and rips up the road with his car comes to mind.

I live in Canada and run my solara regular in snow 4 - 6 months a year. I have driven these roads for 25 years and I must say the OEM tires work very well.. (chains are for ice not snow and god help your wheel wells and fenders if they come loose). I would suggest buying better summer tires and keep the OEM set for winter. (they can be studded if you get lots of ice)
