There was an article on them in Super Street a couple of years ago I remember. Its like a clear coating. What are Side Caps specifically? Don't they only portect from small pebbles??

Gentlemen I highly recomend that you have a clear bra professionally installed. If you try and do it yourself you mind as well throw 400.00 out the window driving down the freeway. The material is not easy to install without proper training and even trained some kits are quite a challenge. The Solara is a difficult car to do.

no headlight savers???

Postby obegong » Tue Jan 25, 2005 4:52 pm

I gave Star Shield a call today and was informed that they don't do "headlight savers" anymore :(. The reason being polyurethane doesn't react well when overheated, and since it's the coating that "glues" the 3M film to the headlights, it can potentially shatter the glass. So...word of the wise: virtually all of the PPF kits use 3M clear film nowadays, so basically no matter where you have it installed, the possibility of your headlights shattering still looms.

I have never heard of such a thing but I suppose it could be possible especially on glass. I believe that most cars headlamp assemblies nowadays are lexan plastic.
