Let me go into a bit of detail on the product for those who don't know.
Clear bra's or Paint Protection Film as it is refered to is still relatively new and therefore the prices are still quite high. Does anyone remember how much window tinting cost 20 years ago? It has been predited by 3M and Xpel that PPF will surpass window tinting in the years to come. PPF has been around for ten years and has seen the most growth over the past three or four years. Here is some info for comparison sake.
" According to SEMA the cloth bra and plastic bug shield retail markets grow at compound annualized rates averaging around 5%. The clear paint protection film industry is truly in its infancy. Many industry leaders expect the market to grow to a level five times larger than its current size over the next three years. Lori Gosselin, Market Development Manager for 3M's Automotive division is quoted as saying, " Growth of this product the past three years is unprecedented compared to anything we have done in the Automotive Aftermarket".
Cloth bra's are good I used them for years, but you have to take them off in inclement weather, no protection. Bug shields do not cover your bumper. Neither of these products offer a $1000.00 Paint Protection Guarantee and a five year product warranty and lifetime installation warranty. The above also applies to headlight kits. 1 out of 6 automobiles will require headlight or auxillary light replacement due to damage. To replace your Solara assembly you are looking at 342.88 EACH!
The paint on todays vehicles are better in some ways and worse in others they are softer thinner and chip easier due to most manufaturers using water based automotive paints. Nothing protects 100% but these kits come real close they do not take away from the look of your vehicle and you don't have to take it off and put it back on it is there to do the job of protecting you car from road rash. It comes down to justifying the cost. It depends on how picky you are about you vehicle.
