Check the level of your power steering fluid, it could be low. My old car would make noises when I turn because it had a leak, once I replaced the fluid (and fixed the leak), it was fine.

Definately internal?

If you found it, let us know what it was, pls. In the meanwhile... Is it from the guts of the steering or actually eminating from the steering wheel itself? (the clicks that is.) I've seen stuff jammed in the steering column that only rubbed or clicked when it warmed up and expanded. I can peek at the repair manuals after work but they've been pretty lame for me thus far.

OH YES!! I had this EXACT same problem as you describe it. See my thread at:
http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=10099
I had to go through hell trying to get Toyota to fix it, as my clicking at first was intermittent and didn't happen every time I turned the wheel. It finally got worse and the clicking occurred every time I turned the wheel. Toyota finally located the problem and replaced the spiral cable assembly in the steering column and this has appeared to solve the problem now.
Let me know if you need more info and I hope the repairs go smoothly. Once you get your car to Toyota, please post a follow-up and let me know if they came up with the same diagnosis and fix as I described. THANKS.
