Where I installed my XM antenna

Where I installed my XM antenna

Some people have asked where I have installed my antenna. I did not use the bundled one with the Toyota kit, as it was the first generation and its not cool looking at all being how big it is.

I got the Terk XMicro antenna, you can get one at Circuit City. However you'll need to buy the splitter cable for it as well since the Toyota Pioneer reciever is an old-generation dual antenna input and the newer antennas are single inputs.

It's not a very good picture, but here is where I put mine on the trunklid. I think it looks ok, it's the Pioneer one so it is pretty small.

Technole-how did you get it through the weatherstripping, and does it leak?

As in the XM manuals it says you should run it under the weather stripping. On the Solara you can do it, take a close look at the edge of the stripping of the rear window. The easiest way to get it under is to use a plastic window scraper so you can push the wire below it and run the wire all the way around the right side to the trunk. No leaks or anything, its seems it was easily designed to run a wire through it.

I was very nervous to install mine on the roof because of that, yours looks much better because it's so much smaller.

i installed mine right between the rear speakers, right under the rear glass. i got sirus but i almost never lose reception. i didnt want to mess with the smoothnes of the car so this was the best bet.

In my area, there are just too many trees and canopy roads so having it inside the car is just not feasable.

I had my Sirius antennae on the roof, but removed it, and put it in the back window. I have no problems with reception at all. I even put it in the Trunk when my nephew was in the car, and had perfect reception there also.

Thanks.
