Door Sills

Well, I made a little trip to Home Depot yesterday, and let's just say it was a zoo! Pensacola was recently destroyed by hurricane Ivan, and there is only one Home Depot here, so it was cleaned out. I guess if I wanna try any kind of DIY projects, I will have to mail order the materials.

My input is if you really want them and you can get them for $80. at your dealer instead of the list price of $100. buy them.

They will be covered by warranty and if they come off or get dented or any thing else you can go back to the dealer and get a new set or

your money back. Come on guys some of us have over $33k into our cars and we are talking about a big headache for $30 or $40.

If you are looking to buy a new Solara and you like the door sills make the dealer throw them into to the deal along with any other

accessories you want eg. color matched mudquards, all weather mats, trunk mat etc.

Only my opinion though please do not send any nasty replies.

hahahah, i like ur word!! "some of us have over $33k into our cars and we are talking about a big headache for $30 or $40."
well, my concern is door sill is kinda different than mudguard or all weather mats...
cause door sill does nothing to the car beside making car looks nice... that's all...
that's why i feel it's ripped off. why would i wanna pay so much money just for decoration?
i will spend big money on mudguard, or stuff like that... but.. door sill.. sigh, i think toyota really have to do something about it...

I understand what you are saying but its a matter of principle as far as these door sills are concerned...
I'm going to feel like an idiot shelling out $80 for two strips of brushed stainless steel with a Solara logo stamped on it. No matter how I look at it, its a rip-off for something that would cost you about $10 to make yourself. (I only wish I had the time to turn out a pair of these myself ).

Door Sills for me.

Postby mikei » Wed Dec 08, 2004 7:29 am

I just ordered TRD Lowering Spring Set/ Trd Rear Sway Bar/ TRD Strut Tower Brace/

and a TRD Air Filter. I passed on the TRD Muffler though because my wife and I like

it quiet when cruising the beach with the top down and the XM playing.

I like the door sills and will order them when I get my TRD parts installed.

I think they look great!!!!!!!!

I gotta agree with Doc on this one. Look at all of the other parts for the Gen 1's and 1.5's. They have all dramatically decreased in price. I think I can wait for these until I see a cheaper alternative.
