Slingshot, oil change every 3k.
TW85, If you can get my wife another principalship and myself a job, sure I'll move to Hilton Head and try to get things straightened out with your dealer.
I take it you've spoken with the service manager???? do you have one service tech you work with?
My wife and I have one service tech that touches our vehicles, and I am back in the service area when work is being done on either vehicle.

The big cost at every 15,000 miles is EFI service - power flush fuel injectors, add cleaner to fuel tank for $109.99. Is that really necessary every 15K? If not, I can just refuse it.
The big cost at every 30,000 miles is Auto transmission power flush costing $129.99. Is that really necessary every 30,000? Again, if not I can refuse and pay less.
Junest, are those two things in your prices for 15K and 30K services?

Here are some details on pricing and service at Toyota North Hollywood dealership. http://www.toyotanorthhollywood.com/

My advice for everyone: only take your Toyota back to the dealership for warranty work. Otherwise, choose a qualified, reputable independent repair shop for all the routine maintenance. This has worked VERY well for me for many years. I even specify that I want original Toyota parts, and they happily oblige.

So how does one choose a qualified repair shop? I found mine by checking out http://www.aaa.com. There should be a link in there to find shops that pass AAA qualification guidelines.

If you buy gasoline from any of the major brands (Shell, Exxon, Chevron, etc.), you don't need the EFI service (at least not until you hit 100K miles). All major brands add their own detergents and additives to the gasoline, so the EFI service is redundant.

The Auto transmission power flush might do more damage than good. The transmission is not supposed to be serviced at all. Check your maintenance schedule, and you will see that the only situation when the transmission is supposed to be flushed is when you do towing with your car. Otherwise the transmission is NOT supposed to be flushed, or otherwise serviced.

Cosmicblue, do you have any comments on the above statements? Anyone else?

I tend to agree with Lone Solara, I have seen very few EFI srevices done until high milage occurs.
As far as tranny service, we go by the Toyota service schedule, 30k,and 60 and 90k.

Maybe I'm missing something, but my Scheduled Maintenance Manual only mentions INSPECTION of the trasmission fluid or oil at 30K, 60K and 90K mile service. I would take that to mean they take out the tranny dipstick and check the level and consistency of the oil, not to actually do a flush.

Well, just visited my local dealer last night, and got a price list.

5,000 miles: $37.95

10,000 miles: $37.95

15,000 miles: $37.95

30,000 miles: $55.95

60,000 miles: $55.95

90,000 miles: $55.95

120,000 miles: $145.95

Pretty damn cheap if you ask me, then again you guys would die if you saw housing prices. :) Of course they have a bunch of other things you can add on and double all of these prices, but this is the reccomended Toyota services. Oh, and tire rotation is only $14.95 there, cheapest I have ever seen.

All I can say is WOW. Are other dealers similar low prices? Wonder what Lexus charges?
