Some Numbers for you

Some Numbers for you

Postby truebluestang » Wed Dec 01, 2004 6:17 pm

These are personal numbers for myself that will allow you to benchmark yourself.

Miles: 34,500
Bought: First week of availability
MPG: 26.9 (mostly highway)
Oil Changes: Every 6,000 miles w/ synthetic
Mods: none (unless you count adding Sirius Satellite radio, and a Momo shifter)
Wear and tear:
Brakes have gotten soft, but as of yet, when I last pulled the tires (about a month ago) to look, there was plenty of life left on the pads

Tires: these numbers may be a little skewed, I need to dig out all my paperwork. The tires that come with it are still on it (as far as I know). The car has been in the shop over 7 times just for the pulling to the left issue, and each time, something different was done. I do believe the tires were swapped out once, but am not 100% sure about this. The tires are due for a change (just because whatever they put on these things SUCK royally in the snow).

Spark Plugs: Have not been pulled yet, but will be getting looked over here soon

Belts: fine

Battery: Died once, neither myself nor dealership is sure why, it was swapped out

Everything else seems fine. I can get you any other numbers that you want, just let me know.

Thanks for the detailed info. Nice to hear the brake pads still have plenty of life but then you did mostly highway so that would make sense. I'm looking forward to more detail on the tires. Do you have the Bridgestone EL42's? If those were original, I'd think they'd be near bald by now. Your car is an SE V6 sport? No traction control or stability control, right? Those help alot in the snow I've found. Interesting to hear the OEM tires suck without them, because I found them pretty okay with those added features. I'll get to see again this winter.

I'll get the info on the tires for you when the pretty lady gets back with the car. Last year we had an average winter here in the Detroit area, and the worst was about a 15 in snowfall at one time. Whether it was in the 15 inches, or in just 2 inches, that thing handled like crap. No traction whatsoever. I do not have traction control or stability control (I have that auto-stick, and was told to drive it like a stick in the winter... start off in second etc...).

Just to let you know for a future car, traction control and stability control are major improvements during winter and in snow. Amazing. Gave me more confidence along with the ABS brakes.

I have the Brigestone Peranza EL42, and it's in dire need of replacement. Like I said, I don't know if they changed out any of my tires during all the times that they had my car in the shop.

If they never changed the tires, that's a pretty decent mileage on them before replacement.

I looked at the paperwork. From the looks of it, they rotated the crap out of these tires, but never replaced them. They did however extend my warranty.

All in all, you've done pretty well with Toyota. Long life on the tires, extended warranty, and cash. :multi:

6,000 for a oil change? thats a little long.. cause synthetic rather than getting unpure, it filters out in the oil filter... but the oil level will steadly decrease... shoul dbe every 3000miles
