Problem with headlights

Postby envycycles » Mon Nov 29, 2004 7:38 am

I noticed a couple of days ago that my headlights are not working right... Well only the running lights are working, but I can not get low beams working neither the high beams. I have also noticed that while driving on the freeway some times they will come on for a few seconds and then go again... Anyone ever had this problem?

It sounds like you have a short in the headlight circuit. Remove both bulbs and check for moisture at the connectors. Headlight systems on all cars are on a circuit breaker that automatically resets. If the short is still there, it will trip again right away. That's probably why you see them come on and go right off again. Dry out the connectors and use a lot of dielectric grease, then reconnect them one at a time and see if the problem went away. In case you're not aware, you NEVER handle any halogen bulb with bare fingers. Your fingerprint oil can boil on the glass bulb and burst it. If you have to handle it make sure to wipe it off very well and let it dry before you turn it on.
