Yeah, all the issues that were sporadic in the 2004s have been fixed coming off the line in the late 2004 and just-released 2005 models.

A friend of mine at a dealership mentioned so.

I had an annoying rear deck rattle and brought it in to the dealership. They added more padding to it and said the factory must not have put enough. Tell your dealer to do the same to fix it.

2004 tsb corrected in 2005 models

Postby jig47 » Tue Nov 30, 2004 6:51 pm

I beg to differ with some of the previous posters. I have a 2005 v6 sle and it has all of the above mentioned problems, i.e. throttle lag, thumping in rear suspension, and numerous plasticy rattles, ticks, etc. Your dealer contact is full of $hit.

I figured as much. There was at least one other 2005 owner with some of the problems. No certainty all problems are fixed in the second year of any car though they should be. Have you brought your car in to get the dealer to fix these problems yet? What was the outcome? I don't have the problems you mentioned with my '04 but have a left drift at highway speeds if I let the steering wheel go.

The Throttle Lag isn't an "issue". Its the drive-by-wire and the shifting, people who have an RX330 sometimes complain about it.

Sounds like you got what I call a lunch hour car.

I mentioned only TSBs, none of those are across the board problems except the rattle in the rear deck, i got more padding back there and i still get a little rattle.

I brought it in for the rear end thumping and they had the car for 3 days. When I got it back they claimed everything checks out fine and they all do this. Also, I mentioned the rear rattle sounds and they took out the rear deck and taped it. I think the problem is the headliner or maybe this car is just a POS. My long term goal is to bring the car in 2 more times for the thumping sounds and file a lemon law complaint. (hopefully Toyota is reading this post).

If someone tore apart the rear of my car they would laugh at the amount of foam padding I have stuffed in where I can reach. I found the rear rattle to be the headliner.

Now if I could find the frickin' rattle that is coming from in the front driver's side dash area... :x
Moved on to better things...

sportcarguy: the rear end thump noise and the headliner noise are not the same noise. The thump has to do with the suspension and the headliner (the liner over your head extending to the rear window) has to do with with poor body panel plastic clips. Some people stuff foam in the gaps to minimize eliminate the ticking/rattles the headliner can make.As far as the thump goes, I hope you get to learn to like it as so far Toyota is not offering an official fix. Member Falaniz is the only person I know of that claims to have gotten the dealership to resolve the problem.
