Body Kit Proposal

Postby cablemn » Mon Nov 22, 2004 6:18 pm

the first is the most practical. it looks like you wont have to buy a whole new front bumper to get that done which will keep the cost down and make it a do it yourself project. the side skirts look great also. we need a pic of what the back would look like. something smooth like the rest of the first design. and keep it small, the a$$ of our solara is big enough.
maybe something similar to the front 2 piece design which would allow a single or double exhaust tip without having to make a modification. we are definitely making progress!

I think the first drawing is too much like the Camry kit. doesn't go with the sharpness of the Solara. The Blue one, now that's what I'm talking about. Maybe it will work without the eyelids as well. Can't wait to see the rear. If this goes through, I am not even gonna think about changing my Solara.

^^^^^^ JJEEEEEEEZZZZZZZ I wish we had all red tail lights. The extra tail lights on the trunk portion remind me of the g35. Very nice. I love the dual exhaust ports.

I'm not feelin that, looks too much like an insect. What about a smoother rear for the kit in the first picture?

I love the rear. I'd can probably live w/out the additional tail lights on the trunk, but the duals looks awesome.

Agreed, looks too organic. The extra rear lights aren't good and make it too busy-looking and cluttered. Dual exhausts are nice but something closer to the TRD design. The space betwen the dual exhausts should be lowered. What size are those wheels in the pic? Look like 24 inches!!!! Way too big to be practical.

It already has a spoiler, it's built into the trunk. I dunno about you guys, but I already have a hard time seeing out of the back window as it is, because the rear sits so high up.

Very true, the small spoiler that's an option now (and pretty standard on most models) is about as high as you want without being pretty blind looking back.

I just thought of something else, and I could be wrong, but I was told that the splash/mud guards will not fit if you have the sport model, so does this mean that anyone who has splash guards will have to remove them to add a body kit? Or can someone work on something so that they can stay?

Almost certain you'd have to remove the mud guards if you have side and/or rear body kit pieces. Noone yet makes mud guards for the sport kit. You'd have to have custom mud guards to fit any body kit if you want to still have mud guards. Now if you just put on a front body kit, you can leave your present mud guards on.

hey...how come we dropped the ball on the body kit r and d.
we need more ideas. with interest comes results.
jonathan...could you rework the rear to match the drawing of the bodykit that was closest to the
stock body kit? that seemed to be the most practical.
damn...i wish i could draw id do it myself.
