Unfortuntely, I doubt her insurance company will "total" your car and get you a new one. If they don't, stay on 'em. Don't even accept the car back until they get ALL the repairs right. This was basically a new car before the accident and you want it back the way it was before the accident.

If her insurance company gives you a hard time about anything, file a complaint with the proper state agency (this gets their attention REAL fast).
(Been there, done that).

Very well put John....

So so sorry bro, glad to see no major injuries.

WOW, I'm utterly shocked.... :o :o :( :(

Sorry bro, good luck with everything and keep us posted.

I doubt your car will total out. Depends on whether or not there is frame damage. I'd say all 3 could be repaired, but your Solara will definately cost a pretty penny.

Glad to hear you're ok...pictures turned my stomach especially seeing a fellow rag top owner's car being damaged.

Did your side airbag deploy?

Good luck

Any idea how fast the side impact was? I wonder what the speed needs to be for them to deploy. Perhaps they malfunctioned.

I am so so so sorry... This makes me soooo angry, because something VERY similar happened to me about 2 weeks ago (except I wasn't hit, I swear angels were watching over me or something)... My friend and I were in my car, driving down a two lane highway, minding our own business... We were doing the speed limit, about 50. We were rapidly approaching a diner, which was on our right side (i was in the right lane). I noticed that a small white BMW sped around me and got in front of me, and then turned into the diner parking lot. I didnt really think much of it... THEN, out of the corner of my eye, on my left, I noticed something huge and dark moving toward me... I jammed on my brakes and laid on my horn. This big huge Jeep 4x4 (BRAND NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!! STILL HAD TEMP REGISTRATION TAPED TO THE BACK) came at me out of nowhere, just drifted into my lane as if I wasn't even there, then got in front of me and THEN jammed on HER brakes so that she could enter the diner parking lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i laid on my horn for like another quarter mile, i was soooo freaking freaked out, i was shaking. My friend said the driver didnt even turn around or react to the horn. So, I dropped off my friend and then decided to go back to the diner to report this (I was SURE it was a drunk driver, because this was no normal instance of a cut-off...). I went back, found the car, wrote down the temp. registration, and went inside to call the cops. They werent very helpful, they said that unless the person/people are in the car, there is nothing they can do, but they said they were sending out an officer anyway. The officer came, and I told him what happened, and he went inside to look for the driver of the car. As he went IN, i noticed a group of like 10 teens come out of the diner. a bunch got into the white BMW, which the Jeep had been following. Then i saw the other bunch (like 5 of them) head towards the Jeep.. I ran inside and got the cop. So he went after them. He got the girl's license and came inside with it. he was like, here's the deal. she's 17 years old, just got her license 10 days ago. you can put a complaint against her and go to court, etc. etc. i decided not to do it, because id have to take a day off of work, plus he said id have to identify her in court and i wasnt the one who saw her, my friend did, etc. BUT, i said i wanted to talk to her. i gave her the biggest lecture ever (im 23 yet gave her a grandma lecture probably). i kept telling her how she almost smacked up MY new car, and i was so upset, and that had she smacked it up, i wouldve been soo upset, etc. I seriously wasnt even THINKING about the prospect of my OWN injuries/life, that is how important the Solara is!!!! lol. it makes me sooo ANGRY that these stupid kids get on the road and wreak havoc. PLUS the officer technically shouldve given her a summonce because at 17 she has a junior license and is not allowed to have more than ONE other driver with her in the car. thank GOD i wasn't hit... the car was only 6 weeks old at the time. my precious.... lol.

damnit dont hate on the 16 year olds, at least me! no accidents and no tickets. im afraid for when i do get that first ticket its going to be a bad one bc i average like 100mph on all of the trips i make, even to my neighbors house. actually there are a lot of dumbasses at my high school that get in wrecks and junk, a lot of people get flucked up too. sry to see that car man.

True... I think the rate should depend upon age and not gender. I absolutely agree that young female drivers can be JUST as bad (if not worse.. ive seen it...) than young male drivers, especially now that cell phones are the rage! My friend got hit one time by a girl driving a new Beetle, talking on the cell phone, all while weaving in and out of the lanes. She (the girl) started hysterically crying about how her parents would kill her because she was on the cell phone, and how she just got her license, etc. etc. My friend actually felt bad and had to calm her down!
