Warning Lights: CHECK engine, VSC,TRAC OFF

Hello..

Has anyone had those 3 warning lights come on?? Mine did yesterday so I checked the manual. It said the problem may be the gas cap, so i removed/replaced it. But the lights were still on this morning, so i made an appt with Toyota for next week.

Then at lunch, they were OFF again!

That is definitely a gas cap problem. It happened on my 01 Highlander before. Toyota once fixed it, the light came on again. So, Toyota took two times to fix it. I forgot why it happened. Please tell me after you get the answer.

I just got my '04 Solara about 2 months ago and to day I had the same problem has anybody else came up with a solution as to what's causing this? Would greatly appreciate any help before I take it to the dealer tomorrow. Btw I'm new to the forums so don't kill me just yet.

i had this problem, but it was my ECU fuse burned out...
wasnt' a big deal...
ur situation seems more weird...

I only had that problem that week. The car has been trouble-free since, knock on wood!

I had this problem with my last car. If you didn't tighten the gas cap all the way until it clicked a few times it would do this. Once you tightened it, it would take driving it a few times for the lights to go off, but everything was fine. I hope this helps.

this is winter. gas companies are using old gas cus they have to switch to heating oil. i'd recommend people always to use 'branded' gas in the prelim winter season. or it could be actually a problem???

Yea I took it to the dealership and they said that the gas cap apparently wasn't tightened good at some point. Also they said it could take a couple of days before the lights would come on and that the ECU will not reset so if this happens again the only way to get the lights off is to take it to the dealer which IMO SUCKS! They said if the fuel cap is not tighten enough there's a sensor that will send a single of low fuel pressure which makes the check engine light come on then the check engine light sends another signal to the VSC sensor and so on and so fourth. All that BS just for a fuel cap.
