What's Faster?!

What's Faster?!

Postby Willy7o2 » Thu Oct 21, 2004 12:40 am

I was arguing with my Bro'in-law earlier about him getting a Scion tC. He said he can beat my Solara V6 SLE (stock-stock). Comparing HP:weight and Torque:Weight ratios, I have the benefit of both. The only thing he has on me, is that he is stick. Which car will be faster?

0-60 ?
0-100 ?
1/4 mi ?
1 mi ?

Please, I would really want to know what others think.

Ok... sorri, I should've search for info b4 posting.... but for those who care to know....

Gen2 Solara V6 SLE:

0-60: 7.1 seconds
0-100: 19.2 seconds
1/4 mi: 15.3 seconds @ 90.9mph

Scion tC (5 speed):

0-60: 7.45 seconds
0-100: 20.9 seconds
1/4 mi: 15.7 seconds @ 88.0mph

So concludes. Even with auto tranny, the solara is faster. I feel much better now. I hate to think I bought a car thats $27k that can't beat one for $10k less.

i'm not suprise for 27k cars can't beat 10k cars~
tC is so tiny and light, and it has a very good engine too..
from ur data, it's very fast for 4cyl cars already~
honestly, solara is kinda slow since it's too heavy and huge.
anwyay,
one type of racing u ganan win tC definatly is racing uphill~
heheheheheheh
it's definately ganan kill tC's engine~ and u will know v6 power~

Did the bro-in-law pop for the dealer installed supercharger on the tC? If he did, I would say hang it up. Otherwise, race him to the next state and see what happens. I got my v6 for long distance travel, and it cruises all day at 80mph, gets 30mpg, and isn't whiney. Who cares about 0-60?

our cars are luxury compared to tc. so if it's a race, dont be suprsied to loose easily.

those (tc) are meant to be tinkered with.

Amen to that Mole. If I had one I would be all over it. Don't be surprised to be blown away by many in the future. Just sit back and watch them claw away in there tiny tuner mobile.

They ALREADY have a supercharger. I guess that doesn't bode well for us.

Well, at least the tC is a really nice little car. I've grown to hate that class of car because of what people do to Civics, Focuses, etc.
Moved on to better things...

My new goal.... fix up my car to NEVER lose to a tC.

He was all talking shnitz about my car compared to his tC and how I pay more and still won't beat him. I'll show him to mess with a V6. What can I do right now to get more power? I will get it right away.

You don't need any more power. You should beat him stock to stock already. Two other car magazines had the Solara V6 Gen 2 doing under 7 seconds 0-60.

I'll take on a s/c Tc! I'd like to see how close it'd be.

That would be a very interesting matchup and should be real close.

haha. so what are you going to do to stay on top of a turbo scion?

in this world, there will ALWAYS be cars faster and cars that will be slower than you.

you just cant beat things...

It is not even a contest. They got 7.5s for Scion with heavy drop clutching and very good shifting - in the street scenario Solara V6 will pull very easy on the tC. tC benefits from low final gear ratio, but it backfires when you have to cruise on the highway with 4000+ rpm
