Ride Quality After 10,000 Miles?

Postby TW85 » Tue Oct 19, 2004 4:27 pm

I think you guys need to ride in a Camry, Avalon, LS 430, etc., before rating the Solara's ride a 9 out of 10 for comfort. I'd say the Solara is more along the lines of being a 7.5

How much stiffer did the ride get? If the ride from the factory was a 9 out of 10, what is it now?

A lot stiffer. I would say 15 out of 10 and 10 being the stiffest. It's off the charts. I went with the TRD spings.

You misunderstood me. 10 out of 10 means the most comfy ride that isolates you from road surfaces- example: luxury car. The Solara is 9 out of 10 meaning pretty damn comfy ride. So the ride with your lowered TRD springs would be a lower number as you would feel every road joint. So what do you think this new number is?

Ok. To clarify that... For comfort, I would say an 8 out of 10, I do feel the road more.

I used to own a Camry and test drove the Lexus prior to my Solara purchase. Those cars have a very cushy/luxury ride. You're right, the Solara isn't up to par on the luxury side of the ride, but it's not bad. I was happy with lowering it. You do feel more of the road, but my handling improved slightly on the turns.

Ok, ok, how about the Solara SLE stock is 8 out of 10 in comfy ride. Guess the Solara SE Sport is 7.5? Then the addition of the springs makes them ???

I had a 98 camry v6 before I got my solara, rides about an 8.9. I'd have to rate the ride and comfort a 7.7 out of 10 cause sometimes I just get tense and my upper body feels uncomfortable. Tried many different settings and positions but can't quite find that sweet spot yet like my old camry.

That's mighty impressive a number. How much did your installation cost of the springs and where did you get it done?

i'm at about 12000 and theres nearly no difference anywhere in quality... all feels the same. stearing is a little less stiff then spanking new and get up and go is a little better as well. but nothing has really changed.
