TSB for the drifiting problem on the Gen 2 Solara

I have my 04' Solara in for the drifting problem, and yes there is an actual TSB that came out Feb 4, 2004.

The Title of the TSB:

Vehicle Pull Improvement Procedure

Models:

'04 Avalon, Camry, & Solara

Listed under Steering (ST002-04) Revised.

Took it in for to have the front end aligned. After doing the alignment they noticed that it still pulled. I mentioned to the Service Manager that I read on the board here of others complaining about the same issues and he went out and found the TSB. Needless to say, they had to hold it overnight and it appears that they have to rotate the coil springs so many degrees (I recall seeing in here that someone had mentioned this as well, which is why I told the SM that it might just come down to that procedure). Again, this is why he searched and found the TSB.

Hope to get it back this afternoon, and working fine.

I'll post an update if anything outside of the TSB had to be done to the car...............

My apologizes if this has been covered completely under another topic. Searched and searched but didnt find any posts that directly addressed the TSB.

*** This TSB is only being covered by the vehicle warranty.

Happy Cruzin....

I know that I've seen some of them before, just didnt have any luck finding them this time.

Again, my apologies, but most of all, my thanks to the many on here that posted the information that led to getting the problem resolved. I most likely would have just pressed them for a re-alignment and accepted that.

This board is awesome.

Oh, and BTW, for those that are taking their cars in for the first time to have this resolved, when they go thru the process of the TSB and tell you that they cant find the reason why it still drifts, the Service Manager had a great staff that went back in and found that the Front Coil Spring Seat had slipped back from the adjustment made in the TSB. The Front end alignment guy they have here in Northern VA is awesome and finally got it right.

Here's to driving in a straight line again......... and look Ma, no hands.........

We all go through it. But more importantly, this is why we have to make sure everyone makes the subject of their post very specific to what you are talking about. Because, it makes it so hard to find it in a search, just like you experienced. :)

This last time I actually requested a technician drive my car with me as passenger. They got the master mechanic (some 60+yr old guy) to drive. Aside from nearly getting us killed at every intersection and freeway lane change, he confirmed the drift is not my imagination. To my surprise i was able to pick up my car a few hours later and for the first time in nearly 10,000 miles i was able to drive hands free.

Can you find out exactly what they did to fix it this time?
