Lady hit my Solara. Might be totaled.

Postby Bartos » Thu Sep 23, 2004 2:22 pm

So yesterday morning, not more than 3 minutes after I parked and entered my gym for what could have been a great leg workout, I heard an aweful crash outside. I looked out the front window and my jaw dropped at the horrific sight. Then curse words followed as I ran towards the front door. The guy on the treadmill might have been offended.

A middle-aged lady driving a mid 90s ford probe brutally rear-ended my solara as it sit parked on the side of the street. She must have been going about 35mph. Thankfully she was wearing her seat belt and she was not seriously hurt. But my solara will never be the same.

Her explaination: she was leaning over to grab something on the passenger side and must have unintentionally swerved into my car.

I won't know if it is totalled for another few days. What do you guys think? Frankly I'd rather get cut a check from her insurance company then have someone try to repair this mess.

Here are the pics.

the as$ end is totalled for sure.. the strut and spring are sticking out the side... I would take the check, total the car, and decide which car that you want... they can salvage the engine and stuff... but thats.. ouchy....

Can I request that it be totalled and get cut a check instead of repairing the car? I'm under the impression that only the body shop can decide whether to total it or not.

If it was up to me I'd call the insurance agent today and request a check...

Woah! So so sorry dude. It's usually up to the bodyshop, cus they didn't total out my 03 Altima and it had 8Gs worth of damages done. It's back to normal now...I guess.

Good luck...again, so so sorry.

Bye bye to that Solara!

The Gen1 won't be ideal for fixing for that kind of damage due to it's value and what it would cost to fix.

So yeah, I'd say it's a scrap!

I am a calm person but I would have a very hard time holding back if an idiot hit my car like that. I do not deal with stupidity very well...

Good luck!
