SE Sport Pedals

SE Sport Pedals

Postby rohand » Sat Sep 18, 2004 10:59 pm

Hey, any of u guys know if the 2004 V6 SE sport comes with aluminum pedals standard? bc i went to my Toyota dealership when i got the car and they said it was an option that only a few solaras come with. When i checked back on their site about the 05s, i found out that the SE sport come with the aluminum sport pedals standard. Anyone think i have a solid stance against wut my dealer told me? advice would be greatly appreciated

You absolutely can go after the dealer on this. If necessary you can file a clain with the DMV or BBB.

I have the 04 Solara brochure in soft copy. I can EM it to you if you would like. It clearly states under Interior the SE Sport comes with medal pedal overs standard (the only model/trim level that has these pedals standard)

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Here's an idea for you. Go back to dealer and ask them to put in writing stating what they told you in regards to the pedals. If they refuse call them on it. In addition make sure that take notes and names while you are facing them. If they continue to hold fast I would call Toyota's customer care dept. I would also bring the 04 brouchure with you that I can send you. Its is black and white. Since there are no disclaimers in the brochure stating they aren't liable for mis-prints - You GOT THEM!

What surprises me with the situation is, don't the pedals come standard from the factory floor? Because if they are putting the black pedal on the brake then someone isn't doing their job on the QA part of the line.

Hey Rohand

I just sent you the brochure. Good luck. If the dealership management/owner hasn't been involved I would definately bring it to their attention. Local news stations like to do pieces on these type of things. It may be a good strong arm technique if needed.

I almost want to think it was taken off intentionally just like how they don't put the mats in the car before you buy it. The sport pedals could get scratched by a test driver.

No matter how you want to look at it, this is a pretty poor salesperson and/or dealership. Look at the possibilities:

1. The salesperson is so unknowledgeable (ignorant) about his own product he doesn't know that the sport pedals are standard on the SE. (Okay, maybe they do put the pedals in the trunk or something to keep them from getting scratched until the car is sold... then say so).

2. (worse) The salesperson is lying (B.S.-ing) to rohand about the pedals.

No matter how you slice it, its sad that this dealership is "nickel & diming" rohand about a 30-something dollar pair of pedals. Is this really going to kill their profit margin?

Well, I'm not surprised about the salesperson not knowing. My family's bought three Toyota's from Courtesy Toyota in Orlando and the sales-people never know anything about the cars. I mean I knew more than this guy did. But I looked up the sport pedals and i went in and talked to the customer service rep who then asked the sales manager. And he was the one that said that the pedals were an option and not all SE sports come with them. But i think i'll give them a piece of my mind this time.

Sure its a Sport?

Postby mmcdonald » Wed Sep 22, 2004 8:47 am

Maybe they sold you an SE, and are telling you its a Sport. Does it have the carbon fiber inserts in the interior? That is one of the only other ways to tell. How about the 17" wheels? The SE only comes with 16".
